Alyssa
---Ten years later
The apartment looks like one out of my old dreams, it still doesn't feel fucking real after two years of living in it. Tree's sway back and forth though there is hardly any green on them, just sticks and twigs.
I walk into the house to meet the loud sound of a screwdriver drilling into the freshly white painted walls. I smile widely at the sight of it after a long day of patiently listening and talking to the children entering my plush office.
Even after years of my own overwhelming shit I manged to become what I wished, a child psychiatrist. It even sounds weird in my own head.
"I'm home!" I call out.
I find myself loving those words. I'm home.
I don't always get to say them, especially not with Aiden always being away for hockey games. A year after he became captain at the start of sophomore year he managed to get drafted by Tampa Bay Lightning.
It would be an understatement to say that he's fucking famous.
The drill slows down as his emerald eyes turn towards me with a glimmer.
"How's it going?" I ask, practically bouncing over to the wooden frame.
"Incredible, do you think I could be an architect?"
"Defiantly not." I shake my head. "But," I tilt my head to the side at the beginning of my brand new bookshelves. "It looks pretty fucking good to me." I pet him on the back, "not too bad Peters."
"Good," he sighs, running his hands through his brown hair. "Because now I have a fucking headache and need to lay down for an hour."
I chuckle, "Matthew?"
His eyes widen and I can tell his close to complaining. "Why'd he have to fucking move in next to us? We already had Caleb."
Caleb and his wife moved into the nearby unit a year ago and today Matthew moved into the other one.
"Maybe, it's because he's your best friend?"
"He's a pain in my ass," he grumbles. "Did I mention that him and Elliana have been blasting music all fucking day? And I mean all day, six AM Alyssa!"
"Glad I wasn't there," I puff out a breath of air as I place my black bag down on the table.
After the years we figured out that Matthew's and Elliana's specialty was blasting music until their ears bleed out. It's a pain for the rest of us but apparently it makes those two happy as they dance around in their own world.
"When's Tess coming?" He asks, hitting some other screw in the wall with a rusty hammer this time.
I smile, looking up at the clock above the kitchen counter. "An hour," I practically squeal. "Ugh, it feels like I haven't seen Jackson in years."
"They only live a couple hours away," Aiden chuckles. "And you saw Jackson a week ago."
After we finished collage, Tess and Bailey moved back to her hometown in Dumpmark. (Something Matthew constantly mentions with humour in his daily spiels) Less than a year ago they had little baby Jackson, the cutest fucking baby ever.
"It's a baby." I say, "it feels like years since I've seen that adorable face."
The door swings open and a cold breeze of chilly air floats into our toasty room. "Matthew," I groan. "What have I told you about shutting the door behind you? By this age you'd think it wasn't as hard."
