Third person's pov
Jungkook was sitting on the park bench, his face buried in his hands, crying his heart out. "I wa-aited for you," he choked out between sobs.
Taehyung was also crying.
"I know, Jun-ngkook. I know," Taehyung said, his voice was shaky. He took a tentative step closer but hesitated,
Suddenly, Taehyung's phone rang, breaking the emotional tension. The ringtone was a cheerful, "Chicken is here!" jingle. Jungkook looked up, his eyes red and swollen, and stared at Taehyung while wiping his nose with his sleeve.
Taehyung felt a rush of embarrassment. "Wait a second," he mumbled. He moved a little aside to answer the call. "Hello?"
It was Heejin, "Appa, it's 8:30. You said you’d be back by 8. Where are you?"
Taehyung glanced at Jungkook, still hunched over in tears. "I have something to take care of. I’ll be home a little late. Bye," he said quickly, cutting the call before Heejin could respond.
Turning back to Jungkook, Taehyung saw him still crying, hiccuping uncontrollably.
"I’ll be back in a second," Taehyung said softly. Then he started running towards the nearest store, his breath coming in gasps.
At the store, he burst through the door, startling the cashier. "I need a pack of tissues and a bottle of water—wait, make that a bottle of banana milk," he said, still catching his breath.
The cashier raised an eyebrow but nodded, fetching the items. "You should sit down for a bit, sir. At your age, you shouldn’t be running," he said kindly.
Taehyung bristled. "What’s wrong with my age? I’m only 45!" he muttered, talking the items and heading back to the park.
When he returned, Jungkook was still on the bench, tears streaming down his face. Taehyung handed him the tissues and the banana milk. Jungkook took them with wide, teary eyes, still hiccuping like a child.
"Thank y-you," Jungkook whispered, opening the tissue packet and pulling one out. He wiped his nose and eyes, then looked at Taehyung. "Your nose is running too," he said, offering a tissue.
Taehyung sniffed and took the tissue, wiping his nose. "Thanks," he said,
Jungkook then opened the bottle of banana milk and took a long sip, trying to calm his hiccups. "Yo-ou rememb-bered," he said quietly, looking up at Taehyung.
Taehyung sat down beside him, maintaining a respectful distance. "Of course," he replied softly.
They sat in silence for a few moments, the sounds of the park around them—the rustling leaves, the distant laughter of children—filling the void.
After Jungkook calmed down, Taehyung looked at him with soft eyes. "Should we talk now?"
Jungkook nodded, wiping the last of his tears away with the tissue. They both sat in silence for a couple of minutes, the air between them thick between them. Finally, Jungkook broke the silence. "How are your children?"
Taehyung smiled, a genuine warmth spreading across his face. "They're good. You know, when I first adopted them, I had no idea what to do with them. But now, I don’t know what to do without them.........they’ve become my world."
Jungkook returned the smile slightly, "You were always good with kids."
Taehyung smiled softly. "Do you have any children?"
Jungkook nodded. "Yeah, I have two sons."
"When did you get married?" Taehyung asked, looking down.
Jungkook's expression darkened slightly as he recalled the painful memories. "A few days after your marriage."
