Third person's pov
At night, Jungkook was overseeing the maids as they set up dinner. He wanted everything to be perfect, so that his in-laws can shut their mouth for a bit.
He had sent both Hyunjae and Sujae out for dinner to avoid any what happened last time. As the preparations continued, his phone rang. Jungkook excused himself and went to his room to take the call.
"Hey, I'm sorry I didn't call you back earlier," Jungkook said, recognizing Taehyung's number on the screen. "I got busy."
"It's okay," Taehyung replied. "I was thinking, would you like to go for a walk with me? Uh, Don't get me wrong, I'm suggesting this because we both walk around the same time."
"Oh," Jungkook hesitated. "I'm a bit busy with family tonight, but we can meet tomorrow."
"Alright," Taehyung said in one breath, sounding a bit rushed. "Have a good time." He hung up before Jungkook could respond.
"Weird," Jungkook muttered to himself.
Just then, one of the maids appeared in the doorway. "Sir, the guests have arrived."
Jungkook nodded, straightened his suit, and went downstairs.
In the foyer, Mrs. Park Soujin greeted him with a nod. "Greetings."
Jungkook bowed slightly in return.
The matriarch, Mrs. Park Iseul, was the next to speak. "Where are my grandsons?"
Jungkook smiled, masking his annoyance. "They had some important work, so they are not at home."
Sunghoon sneered. "More important than family?"
Jungkook’s smile widened, but his eyes remained cold. "Of course. Now, let’s go." Sunghoon scoffed hearing his response.
As they moved towards the dining room, Sejin muttered under her breath, "I will cut that tongue."
Jungkook heard it and turned to her with a smirk. "Careful, Sejin. You might choke on your own words." He continued walking, leaving her more angry.
At the Dining Table.........
The dining table was laden with an impressive array of dishes. Everyone took their seats, and Jungkook, standing at the head of the table, said, "Enjoy." Preparimg himself for the complaints.
Mrs. Park Soojin was the first to speak up as she examined the food on her plate. "Jungkook, this chicken is too dry. Didn’t you instruct the cook on how to prepare it properly?"
Jungkook gave her a tight smile. "I’ll let the chef know your preference for next time."
Next, Mrs. Park Iseul chimed in, pushing her plate away slightly. "This soup is far too salty. Does anyone in this house know how to cook?"
" Seriously, this wine isn't even chilled properly! Jungkook do you even care for your guests?" Sunghoon’s wife Eunji, spoke up.
Jungkook’s eyes blazed with barely concealed fury. "I care very much about making sure everyone is comfortable. Perhaps you’d like to visit the kitchen and instruct the staff yourself?"
Eunji didn't said anything except rolling her eyes.
As the meal progressed, Mrs. Park Iseul looked up at Jungkook and spoke up, "Jungkook, you seem to be doing quite well for yourself. I suppose even a broken clock is right twice a day."
Jungkook leaned back in his chair, his gaze fixed on her. "Indeed, Mrs. Park. And some clocks are just eternally broken, never right, always stuck in their delusions."
