A/N: Happy Pride Month, everyone! To help celebrate, here's a Pride themed One Shot that was inspired by a role play I did on Character AI.

Shadow grumbled to himself, as he walked through the forest a few miles outside of Station Square. Heading to his favorite clearing to decompress.

It had been another stressful day at G.U.N. Full of incompetent co-workers, paperwork, and pressure. Lots and lots of pressure. So, Shadow just wanted a nice, quiet place to lounge in a tree, and relax. Maybe even take a nap.

But, of course, that couldn't happen.

As soon as he got comfortable in one of the many leafy trees, the quiet was broken by the sound of footsteps, and soon, Shadow saw someone who he definitely didn't want to meet at that particular moment. Or any moment really.

With a silent sigh, Shadow groaned, and closed his eyes, as he leaned back on the tree branch. Trying to appear as though he were asleep in hopes that the person would leave him alone.

However, the footsteps only got louder, until finally, the person spoke from beneath the tree. Interrupting Shadow's peace.

"Hey, Shadow..."

"What do you want?" Shadow growled back in response, not bothering to open his eyes.

"Just to talk."

Shadow knew who it was. And just knowing who it was, even without seeing them, ticked him off even more.

"Well too bad. I'm not in a talking mood." He stated bluntly. "Go away."

"Shadow, please... I haven't seen you in a while, and I really want to talk to you."

While Shadow did hate this person, he found that he couldn't stand to ignore them either. So, he finally gave in.

"Make whatever you want to say fast, and leave me alone." He ordered, still keeping his eyes closed, and his usual scowl on his face.

The other person sighed, and then spoke again. "I miss you. I know we haven't been the best of friends, but still..."

Shadow stayed silent, but his anger softened a little bit after he heard the sad tone of voice. And with a sigh, he finally opened his eyes. Looking down at his unwanted visitor.

Though his anger may have faded a little bit, he was still annoyed.

"Please, Shadow... Can we start over?"

Shadow knew what this person was talking about. Things had been very rough between the two of them for ages. Many years in fact.

"Why should we?" He asked, his red eyes narrowed, as he looked down at Sonic. "We hate each other. So I don't bother you, you don't bother me. End of story."

"I just want to make amends. Can't we be friends again?" Sonic asked with pleading eyes.

But Shadow did not reply right away. He only glared down at him.

He knew Sonic wanted things to get better between them. And deep down, Shadow did too. Though he'd never admit that.

"What do you mean, can we be friends again? We were never friends in the first place, Hedgehog." Shadow stated, rolling his eyes with an irritated huff.

Sonic's eyes widened after he heard that. It hurt him immensely to hear Shadow say those words out loud, but it was true. They were never friends to begin with, and were always trying to one up each other.

But Sonic had held onto hope that maybe they could be in the future, and he wasn't going to give up that easily. "We could be though, right?"

"Tch, you're wasting your time." Shadow grumbled, closing his eyes again. "I don't need friendship."
