(Luke's Pov)

I couldn't believe what had just happened.

Aurora, with her beautiful brown eyes and mesmerizing smile, had leaned in for a kiss, and I had rejected her. It wasn't because I didn't want to kiss her; it was because we were both drunk, and I wanted our first kiss to be special. I wanted it to be a moment we would both remember and treasure, not something clouded by an alcohol-induced haze. Plus some part of me feared that Aurora only wanted to kiss me because she was driven by alcohol, I guess I just wanted to make sure that she genuinely wanted me and to ensure she would not do something she would regret.

But now, as I watched her stumble slightly while we walked towards her house, I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of regret. The way her hand brushed against mine, the way her lips had lingered so close to mine, it was all too much. I was falling for her, and it was freaking me out.

I had spent so long guarding my heart, building walls to protect myself from getting hurt, and now those walls were crumbling down with every smile she directed my way.

"How are you going to get up there?" I ask pointing towards her window.

"Probably fly," She says and lets out the most adorable giggle I have ever heard.

"Stay here, let me go look for a ladder or something," I say and head towards her backyard and luckily for me I spy a ladder lying next to the tool shed, I guess they forgot to put it into the shed. Lucky me!

It is not that heavy and I end up carrying it over my shoulder with ease and head towards Auroras' direction. I find her seated on the grass and she quickly stands up when she sees me and dusts the grass off her.

I proceed to place the ladder gently on the wall and ensure that it is stable enough so that she does not fall.

"You are all good to go," I say.

"Thanks, handsome." She says and before I can think, she wraps her arms around me and hugs me tightly. Just when I am about to wrap my arms around her, she lets me go and kisses me on the cheek.

"Goodnight Luke," She says and starts climbing the ladder and instinctively I go to hold the ladder just to make sure she's stable, one can never be too sure and I would rather be safe than sorry.

I honestly wanted to hold her, to tell her how much she meant to me, but I couldn't find the words. Instead, I settled for a simple "Goodnight, Aurora," my voice barely above a whisper, I am pretty sure she didn't even hear it.

Once she gets into her room, I remove the ladder and right before I am about to head for the backyard to return the ladder where I found it, Aurora says:

"Waiittt.." And I stop in my tracks and look up at her.

She sends me a flying kiss and quickly closes her window.

Aaaww... That just warmed my heart, how adorable is that? You honestly can't help but catch feelings... Hold up! Forget I ever said that.

I was the next one to be dropped off and as we made our way to my house, the silence in the car was deafening. The only sound was the pounding of my heart, a constant reminder of the emotions I was desperately trying to suppress. I couldn't deny it any longer; I was falling for Aurora, and there was no turning back.

But as I lay in bed that night, replaying the events in my mind, I couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, our first kiss would be even more special because we had waited.

Maybe, in the end, it would all be worth it.
