Alastor's playful expression widens into a grin as we reach the dance floor and he spins me around so we're facing each other. He then takes a step closer, reducing the distance between us, and places his hands on my hips while mine rests on his shoulders.
Leaning in slightly, his voice is filled with warmth and amusement as he speaks. "And why, pray tell, are you so eager to dance to this specific song?"
I begin to giggle with how happy I am. He starts to lead me in a simple dance as I answer. "I think you can figure out the answer to that one." Alastor chuckles along with me as he leads us in a simple, slow dance, his movements fluid and graceful as we sway to the rhythm of the song.
He pretends to ponder my answer for a moment, his eyes sparkling with playful amusement, before grinning at me and answering. "I do have my suspicions, but I'd love to hear you say it out loud, my dear."
I shake my head playfully. "Mmm no." Alastor gives a mock offended gasp, feigning shock at my response. "No?" He says, his tone filled with mock incredulity.
He pretends to pout as he guides us through a turn on the dance floor. "You won't indulge me with the reason behind your eagerness to dance to this song?"
"I'm curious why you think I'm eager to dance to this song." Alastor pretends to consider my question for a moment, his expression growing contemplative before a sly smile slowly spreads on his lips. "Well," he says, a hint of mirth in his voice.
"I have a few ideas, my dear. Your eagerness might stem from the fact that this..." he pauses to spin me out before reeling me back in, pulling me closer to him, "...song is quite special."
I nod along. "And what makes it special?" Alastor's smile widens as he feels my nod of agreement, his eyes glinting with a sly sparkle as he speaks.
"Oh, a number of things. It has a certain... sentimentality." He pauses for a moment, letting his gaze roam over my face before continuing. "And it holds a special place in both of our hearts, doesn't it?"
I can't help the laugh that escapes my lips. I'm shocked at how much I laugh when I'm around him, it's nice. "It does. It's the reason you walked all the way to my shop just to see who I was." I grin proudly.
Alastor grins in response to my comment, his eyes shining with fondness and amusement. "Guilty as charged." He replies, his tone playfully sheepish.
"You're not wrong. That song, and the circumstances surrounding it, hold a special significance to me." He smiles warmly as he spins me around once again, his grip on my waist firm and gentle.
"I don't blame you. Charlie Parker makes wonderful music." Alastor's smile widens at my comment about Charlie Parker, his eyes glinting with approval. "Oh, certainly. Charlie Parker has a unique style and undeniable talent." He says with a nod.
He leans in slightly, his eyes locked on mine as we continue dancing. "And you know what they say, a good song can make for a memorable encounter."
"I'd say we definitely tested that saying out." Alastor chuckles as he expertly spins me, his movements precise and smooth as he pulls me back close, our faces only inches apart. "Indeed we did." He says, his gaze fixed on mine.
He leans in even closer, his breath warm against my ear as he speaks in a low, teasing tone. "And I must say, it led to quite the memorable encounter." My smile grows as we continue to dance.
Alastor grins at my widening smile, his grip on my waist firm yet gentle as he maneuvers us through the dance. He twirls me once more before pulling me back, our bodies swaying and moving in time to the music.
He hums along softly with the song for a moment, his gaze flickering around the dance floor, before shifting his focus back to me, watching my face for a moment, before speaking. "I have to admit, you're quite the partner on the dance floor." He says with a playful glint in his eyes.
"You're just full of compliments today aren't you?" I tease as my face flushes. Alastor laughs softly at my playful tease, his eyes flickering over my flushed face, before responding with a smirk.
"Guilty as charged again." He replies, leaning in slightly closer as he guides us across the dance floor.
"How can I not be? Especially when your cheeks turn such a lovely shade of pink when someone compliments you." He adds teasingly, his voice dropping to a low murmur.
Alastor's smirk grows wider as he notices the rosy hue spreading across my cheeks, clearly enjoying the effect his words are having on me. He tugs me closer to him, gently maneuvering me across the dance floor with practiced ease.
He hums approvingly as he observes the flustered expression on my face, his gaze filled with affection and playful satisfaction. "And there it is again." He murmurs, his voice low and teasing. "That delightful blush of yours."
"I'm not used to all these compliments." I giggle out as the song begins to end. I then pout slightly not wanting the song to end. Alastor chuckles softly at my admission, his eyes gleaming with fondness as he observes my pout at the song nearing its end. "Is that so?" He muses, his grip on my waist loosening as the music comes to a close.
He stops the dance but doesn't release me, his hand resting on the small of my back as he looks down at me with a warm smile. "Well, you'd better get used to it." He says teasingly.
I tap his nose with my finger. "I'll try but no promises. You're quite the charmer after all." Alastor grins at my playful gesture, a hint of surprise and amusement flashing in his eyes as my finger taps his nose.
He let out a soft laugh, his gaze becoming more teasing as he replied, "Oh, I do try my best." He says, his voice laced with playful modesty. He then leans in closer, his voice dropping to a murmur as he continues. "And it seems to be working. Judging by that adorable blush on your cheeks."
Alastor guides me back to our table, still keeping his hand gently placed on the small of my back as we approach it. He pulls out my chair for me before taking his own seat across from me.
Once seated, he leans back in his chair, his eyes flickering around the room before settling on me with a satisfied smile. "That was delightful, darling." He says with a warm smile. "You dance beautifully."
"You're an excellent dancer as well. I haven't danced like that in ages." I sighed contently. Alastor chuckles warmly at my compliment, a pleased expression spreading across his face.
He leans back in his chair, mirroring my contented sigh as he replies. "Why, thank you, my dear. We do make quite the pair on the dance floor, don't we?" He says, a hint of cocky confidence in his voice.
"I'd say we do." I reply matching his confidence. Alastor grins at my confidence, clearly appreciating my response. "Would you like something to drink? the bar freed up a bit." He then asks while glancing over at the bar.
I think for a moment. "Sure why not? Surprise me with something." Alastor raises an eyebrow at my request, a small smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "Surprise you, you say?" He says, his voice filled with amused curiosity.
He stands from his seat, straightening up before looking at me. "Consider it done, darling." He adds with a wink before disappearing into the crowd towards the bar.
I smile as I watch him weave his way through the crowded jazz club with practiced ease, his tall figure navigating through the sea of people. As he reaches the bar, he exchanges a brief word with the bartender before placing an order. He then leans back against the bar, his hands in his pockets, waiting for the bartender to prepare the drink he chose.
My attention shifts away from Alastor as I man approaches our table. The man approaches our table with a confident stride, his eyes locking on me with a familiar glint. He stops in front of the table, a cocky smirk on his face, and leans against the edge of the table next to me.
I look him up and down before he starts to talk. "What's a cute thing like you doing off of the dance floor? Why don't you dance with me?"
I raise an eyebrow at the bold stranger's question, instantly disliking his overly confident demeanor and suggestive tone. I turn my attention back to the stranger, maintaining a cool and collected facade. "I'm actually waiting for my date." I reply with a polite smile.
The stranger's smile falters slightly at my response, but quickly regains his composure. He leans in closer, a playful glint in his eyes. "Ah, your date, huh? Well, I'm sure he won't mind if I steal you for a dance or two."
