Alastor's POV⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚

I take a seat at my desk, picking up the papers that were placed in a neat stack. The station always gives me a rundown of any important events or news that they want me to touch on in my broadcasts.

As I begin to skim through the papers I immediately freeze as I read the first few words. Make sure to talk about the stock market crash. "Damn." I mutter to myself, putting the paper down and sighing. My mind begins to race with thoughts as I lean back in my chair and think of what's going to happen in the days to come due to the crash.

I was hoping I was wrong about the possibility of stocks plummeting but I didn't expect a full crash. My eyes drift to my office phone then to the clock. She should be at her house right now.

Calling her to update her on this news would be good. From the looks of it she won't be opening up shop anytime soon, maybe indefinitely if she can't pay to keep the shop open. I pick up the phone and dial her house, tapping my fingers against the desk as I listen to the sound of the dial tone.

Soon it's replaced by the sound of ringing, each time leaving me in silence waiting for her to answer. The possibility of the fact that she could quite literally be out of business due to the crash makes me angry. She doesn't deserve that.

On the fourth ring she picks up the phone, her voice sounding as lovely as always. "Hello?" I hum quietly. "Hello darling." I can tell the sound of my voice makes her perk up slightly. "Hello Alastor." It's clear she's smiling. "Is there something you need?" My heart flutters slightly at how kind and thoughtful she is. Too sweet.

"You could say so." I pick up the piece of paper once more. "I was unfortunately right about what could have caused that unusual interaction at the bank." I start off. "There's been a rather large stock market crash that's going to be affecting people all over the country. The size of this crash was not at all expected."

An audible sigh from her is all I hear for a moment before she speaks up again. "How bad is it going to be?" Her voice is a mixture of emotions, concern being the most obvious among them. I stay silent for a moment thinking of the right words to say. "I'm not sure. There isn't much information out yet. But if I'd have to guess, I don't think it will be a quick fix."

Another deep sigh comes from her. "I was worried about that..." I can picture her leaning against a wall, biting her cheek as she mulls over what this means for her. A pang of worry shoots through me, wanting to be there with her and comfort her. "How much money do you have set aside that can get you by?" I ask, my voice full of concern. "I'll be fine." She says quickly, making me even more concerned.

I sigh to myself, knowing exactly what that response means. "Your tone says otherwise. How much money do you have?" A small grumble comes out of her mouth as she thinks of something to say. "Enough to be fine for now."

"That's not a clear answer darling. Be honest, how much do you absolutely need?" I'm hoping she doesn't lie to me about this. I can tell she shakes her head as soon as she hears what I say. "I don't need anything. I can't keep my shop open right now but I have enough right now to live off of." She sighs slightly. "I appreciate you wanting to help me but I'm fine right now. If I really do need something I'll let you know."

As much as I want to push it and make her tell me, I know that's not going to get anywhere right now. "Alright, alright. You're a stubborn one. If you say you'll be alright, I'll trust you. But seriously love, if you need anything at all you'll come to me?"

"I promise." She says softly. "Thank you for calling me." A small smile forms on my face. "Of course. Take care darling, call me if you need anything." A small pause fills the air before I continue. "I love you."

"I love you too Alastor." My smile grows at her words. I could hear her say those words a thousand times and never get sick of it. "How about we do something tomorrow?" I suggest, hoping it will distract her from the thoughts of the crash.

She hums for a moment. "I'd love to but Mimzy and I planned a small outing. Maybe the day after?" I grimace slightly at Mimzy's name. If only (Y/N) didn't feel the need to loan her money. "The day after tomorrow it is then."

"It's a date." Her words are followed by a smile, which also causes me to smile in response. "I'll see you then." She then pauses for a moment. "It's almost time for your broadcast right? Don't let me hold you up. We'll talk later." We both say our goodbyes before hanging up. A small sigh spaces me as I look back at the pile of papers on my desk.
