Alastor and I have grown even closer over the past few months. His presence in my life has given me a sense of happiness and fulfillment that I've never felt before.
The way he looks at me, holds me, and cares for me makes me feel like the most important person in his world. Alastor has become my constant, my rock, and my safe space.
Mrs. Hartfelt has also grown to adore me, treating me like a second daughter. She's always offering her advice and support, and she's always happy to see us together. Her presence in my life has been a blessing, and I feel so lucky to have her as a second mother figure.
I begin to look around my house for my keys as I throw on my coat. "Where did I put them?" I say out loud to myself as I stand in the middle of my living room putting my heels on.
Next, I pat my pocket hoping my keys would be there. I then look around the coffee table and the kitchen counters, hoping to find them but they are nowhere in sight. I let out a small huff becoming confused.
I take a deep breath in and close my eyes, trying to recall where I had last seen them. "Think, think, think." I mutter to myself. The phone then rings and I make my way over to the receiver and pick it up. "Hello?" I say quickly while continuing to glance around the spaces I can see from my spot.
The sound of Alastor's voice comes crackling through the phone, his charming tone immediately recognizable. "Hello darling." A smile comes to my face as I peek my head into the kitchen to check there again. "Hello love. Why are you calling so early in the day? Today's your day off isn't it?"
I hear a chuckle from Alastor through the phone. "Yeah, it is my day off. But, someone called out sick and now I have to go in." I pout slightly. "That's too bad."
I hear the sound of Alastor sighing through the phone, his voice sounding slightly strained. "Yeah, I'm not too happy about it either. It actually put me in quite a predicament." I continue to walk around my house, as far as the phone's cord would allow, as I hear his deflated tone.
"I was actually calling to see if you'd be able to do me a favor." He starts off as I hum quietly. "I won't get off in time to bring my mother to her book club meeting. Would you be able to take her there and back for me?"
"Of course I can. Don't even worry about it." I say happily. Alastor lets out another sigh, this time sounding relieved. "Thank you so much, darling. I really appreciate it." he says, his voice sounding significantly less strained than before.
My eyes light up as I see my keys on the table with my record player. "Finally." I say relieved. Alastor chuckles again through the phone. "What was that?" he inquires, a hint of amusement in his voice.
"I've been looking for my keys all morning." I whine out. "I finally found them so now I can go and open my shop up for the day." He continues to laugh. "Wait, you're still at your place?"
I let out a sigh, feeling a little embarrassed. "Yeah, it took me a while to find my keys." I reply, a hint of sheepishness in my tone. "Well I won't hold you up from getting to your shop." I can tell he's grinning as he says this. "I'll call you later." I reply as I lean against the wall.
"Alright, I'll talk to you later. Have a good day, darling." Alastor says through the phone, still sounding amused. "You too." I say before pulling the phone back on the receiver. I quickly walk over to my record player, grabbing my keys before heading out of my house.

I finish setting the last of my new records on the shelf, a feeling of pride washed over me. I was able to open the store not even half an hour late.
