A few days have passed since our date at the jazz bar. He hasn't come around the shop since and I've been too nervous to call him. I chalked it up to him being busy at work but I have to admit I am kind of sad that he's suddenly disappeared.
My mind begins to think of possibilities of why he hasn't been around and all I can think of is if I did something wrong. I try to push my thoughts aside, convincing myself that he's just busy with work, but deep down, I can't help but feel a pang of sadness at his absence.
I let out a sigh as I sat on my porch with my book. Having the day off is not helping me. In fact it's just making my mind race even more.
What if he's just lost interest in me? What if the date wasn't as good as I thought it was for him? The more I think about it, the more anxious and restless I feel.
My thoughts are interrupted as my phone begins to ring from inside. I feel my heart skip before I tell myself it's not him. I never gave him my number so he wouldn't know it.
I place my book on the chair as I stand up, walking inside to answer the phone. As the phone continues to ring, I walk inside and pick up the receiver. I take a deep breath, hoping that this call will take my mind off my previous thoughts.
"Hello?" I say, my voice filled with curiosity. Mimzy's voice fills my ear bringing a small smile to my face. "Heya, doll," Mimzy's cheerful voice greets me on the other end. "Hope I'm not interrupting anything important."
"No you're not." I let out a small laugh. "I was just reading. What are you up to?" Mimzy chuckles on the other end of the line. "I'm just sitting at home, bored out of my mind," she says, exaggerating a sigh. "Just had a thought and wanted to give you a call, see if you're up for going out."
I look around my house for a moment before humming. "You know, why not? I don't have any chores I need to do. It will be fun to have a day out with you." I smile.
"That's the spirit!" Mimzy exclaims enthusiastically. "Dress up in something cute and I'll come pick you up in about thirty minutes or so, alright?"
"Sounds like a plan Mimz. I'll see you soon." We both exchange goodbyes before I hang up and walk to my room to put on something else to wear.

True to her word, Mimzy arrives exactly thirty minutes later at my doorstep, looking as radiant and cheerful as always.
We share a hug as I walk outside to greet her. "You look absolutely adorable." she compliments, her eyes scanning my outfit approvingly. She gestures with her hand for me to do a small turn and I oblige.
"That dress looks quite nice on you as well." I compliment back as we begin walking down the street. "Any plans or are we just going with the flow?" I ask.
Mimzy grins, appreciating the compliment. "Thanks, doll. As for plans... I was thinking let's just go with the flow," she says with a shrug. "Maybe take a stroll through the park, do some shopping, grab some ice cream. You know, enjoy a nice day out."
"I like the sound of that." I say with a smile. Mimzy and I don't get a lot of days to do things like this. With her working nights and me at my record shop from open till close our schedules really don't line up.
Mimzy nods in agreement. "Exactly. I think both of us need a day off from our usual routine. A day to relax, have fun, and just be ourselves."
As we continue walking, Mimzy links her arm with mine, drawing me closer. I giggle at her sudden grasp but go with it. She's always been one to get right in others personal space but it fits her bubbly personality.
