chapter 3

Annaka POV
After Killua and I met up with the rest, and waited a few minutes the second phase of the hunter exam started.

"Hi, I'm Mechi," the girl said.

"And I'm Buhara," a fat man said.

"And we're Gormet Hunters!"

"We are also the examiners for this phase," said Menchi. "Your task is to capture a wild boar and create a dish to satisfy both of our likings!"

As people were protesting against it I said, "I'm gonna crush this. I love cooking."

As the protesting stopped we were all going to get the boars. While other people shruggled, I walked up to one and hit it on the forehead, and it went down immediately. I started walking back towards the cooking area and started preparing the meal. I was already half way done before others started coming back up.

After I cooked the meal I put a thing over it to keep it warm as I waited for others to be done. Once everyone was done, they started judging. most of the dishes were just roasted and put on a big plate. While Burama said it was amazing, Menchi wasn't impressed.

"Can't anyone make a decent meal!?" She asked getting frustrated.

It finally got to my turn and I reveal my creation. Menchi had sparkles in her eyes and drooled over my dish. "Well this certainly looks good but does it taste good."

As she tried it her face lit up. "Alright everyone except this girl fails!"

Everyone started protesting and I said, "Don't you think that's a little unfair? I mean not everyone is as skilled in cooking as some people."

After I said that some, who I'm assuming is the Chairman, came down from off an airship and made dust go everywhere.

Chairman Netero knew me already, "Why, long time no see Annaka."

"Indeed, sir," I replied. "How have you been?"

"Good, good," he said, then he whispered, "Your parents are very worried about you."

"I don't care," I replied with a fake smile.

He walked past me, "I'll tell them your in good hands."

He then started to lecture the examiner.

"You know the Chairman?" Killua asked.

"U-uh yeah, we met when I was on a mission when I was younger," I replied.

"But you didn't know a hunter was a thing?" he asked again.

"Y-yeah, in my defense he never told me about it," I replied.

"Very well then, we're off!" Said Menchi. We were told to go on the airship and she took us to this giant egg nest thing.

"You have to simply get the egg, but don't die, here I'll demonstrate." she said as she jumped. She got a hold of the web and waiting for a gust of air and when she felt it she let go and grabbed an egg. She kept falling until a big gust of wind pushed her back up.

"Woah!" Gon said. "That looks fun!"

"Go ahead and try it, Annaka, you don't have to do it since you did past last time," Menchi said.

"But I can if I want?" I ask, she nodded.

"Are you gonna do it?" Killua asked.

I walked up to the cliff and jumped, getting a hold of the web. I waited for a gust of wind as others just jumped and died. When I felt the gust of wind I dropped and grabbed an egg then the big gust of wind brought me back up.

"That was fun," I said. I went to boil the egg as the others did the task. By the time my egg my was done and I was eating it everyone else was boiling theirs. I was sitting by myself.

"You sure are interesting~" said a clown. I looked up at Hisoka.

"I wouldn't call myself interesting but I guess," I said.

"You have your aura nodes open, but I haven't seen you use nen," he cooed.

"Nen?" I asked. He started walking away. "Wait! What's nen?" I asked but he just kept walking.

"You'll find out eventually, I'm sure~"

"What did he want?" Killua asked walking up to me.

"I don't know, he said I seemed 'interesting'" I said with air quotes. "He also said something about aura nodes and new. Do you know what nen is?"

He shook his head, "No I don't."

The rest of our friends walked up to us as the Chairman said, "Get back on the airship, we're going to the third phase."

"Well let's go!" Gon said, excited. I stood up and brushed the dirt off of me and we all started walking towards the air ship.

A few hours later, Killua, Gon and I were looking out the window and talking.

"I'm from a small island," Gon said. "My Aunt Mito takes care of me. It took a lot of convincing to let me take the exam! What about you guys, where do you come from?"

Killua and I looked at each other. "I'm from a family of Assassin's." He said.

"Me also." I stated.

Gon looked at us with a straight face for a second then, "Wait is that really true!?" He had an excited look on his face then Killua started laughing. "Wha- Why are you laughing?"

"It's j-ju- hold on," he said trying to calm down his laughter. I smiled a bit, barely noticeable. "Usually when I tell people I'm an assassin-"

"They laugh or run away," I finished.

"Well its true isn't it?" Gon asked. We both nod.

Then we all felt someone looking at us from one side and we all looked. Then Chairman Netero came from the opposite side.

"Chairman Netero? Did you see anyone coming from over there?" Gon asked.

"No I didnt," he responded.

"You're pretty fast, for an old man," I said as he smiled.

"Hey! I was gonna say the same thing!" Killua stated, I shrugged.

"Hey, do any of you want to play a little game?" Chairman Netero asked.

"A game?" I asked, it peeked my interest. "What kind of game?"

"If you win, I'll make you guys hunters on the spot." He said.

"Woah! really?!" Gon said, he nodded.

"I'll play, it'll keep me entertained," I said.

"I'll play too!" Gon said excitedly.

"Sure," killua said.

The three of us followed the Chairman to a room and it began.
