Annaka POV
Gon and his opponent walked up the the middle platform.
"Okay, as you can probably tell I'm not one for physical fights," his opponent said. "I prefer other things."
"So how do you want to settle this?" Gon asked, determination in his voice. I'm assuming in his eyes as well.
"We both light a candle," he said as he pulled out a long candle and a short candle. "You can pick which one you want. And who's ever goes out first, loses. It's simple."
"It's likely that one of the candles are tampered," Kurapika said.
"or both," killua stated.
'Hmm something tells me that he has another set of candles with him, so it won't matter which one he chooses,' I thought to myself.
I sat down, watching the rest of them talk amongst each other, I was more zoned out so I really wasn't paying attention to anything.
"Annaka?" Killua said, trying to get my attention. "Hello? Earth to Annaka?"
I snapped out of it, I looked up at him, showing him I was listening.
"What do you think?" he asked.
"About what," I asked back, barely above a whisper.
"Which one do you think Gon should pick?" he asked. I just now noticed that Gon was looking at me from the middle platform and the rest were staring at me.
"I think we have to make Gon choose," I said.
"Agreed," Kurapika said. "Gon! You have to make this decision on your own!"
"Okay!" Gon replied and turned to his opponent. "Then I choose the long candle."
His opponent snickered, stood up, and tossed him the candle. They both walked to the fire and lit their candles. I zoned out again.
'I wonder if my family really is looking for me. I mean, if they are, they trained me, they know I'll be hard to track down. But also their literally The Betz Family. If they do find me, I'll be in big trouble,' I thought.
"What are you thinking about," Killua asked as he sat next to me. I shrugged my shoulders. "Want to know what I'm thinking?" I shrugged my shoulders again, signifying that I didn't care. "I think you should talk more." This caught me off guard, I looked at him, surprised. "You're really quiet, and I want to be friends, you're kinda making that hard a little."
"We are friends, though," I muttered.
"I want to be better friends though," he stated.
"what do you mean?" I whispered.
"I want to be best friends," he said. I eyes him suspiciously but before I could reply, Gon's candle started burning bright, and melting faster. Gon panicked for a second then stopped.
"Guess that means it's going to take a lot more than a gust of wind to put it out," gon said, as he leaped towards his opponent. 'He has a spring in his step.'
Gon blew out his opponents candle once he got to him. His opponent had a look of surprise on his face. "Guess he didn't expect that," Killua laughed, a very small smile came to my lips, before I immediately went straight faced again. Killua looked at you for a brief second before Gon walked up to us.
"Whew I thought I was done for," he said, killua chuckled.
"Guess its my turn," kurapika said.
Kurapika and a buff blue guy walked up to the middle platform.
"That is one freaky body," Leorio said.
"And face too," killua stated.
"Do you see this kid?" The blue guy said to Kurapika, while pointing to hearts on his chest. "I've killed 19 people so far, but it's an uneven number. To be honest with you it kinda bugs me. Been looking forward to meeting number 20 for a while." He laughed. "The only way I'll do this is if we put our lives on the line." He went on about agony or something I stopped paying attention.
"Very well then," kurapika said. The look on the blue guys face was priceless.
"No weapons though," he said. Kurapika pulled out a weapon and tossed it to the side. The blue guy seemed relieved.
Then the blue guy suddenly leaped towards kurapika. Kurapika dodged and the blue guys fist left a semi big hole in the ground. The blue guy then turned around and I saw a spider tattoo. 'The Phantom Troupe, obviously it's a fake tattoo.'
"Woah is that what I think it is?" Leorio said, frightened.
"if you're referring to the phantom troupe then yes," I mumbled. "But he's a fake member."
"How do you know that," Gon asked. Killua looked my way, looking for an answer too.
I sighed, 'I really don't like talking, but it's rude to not say anything,' I thought to myself.
"A real phantom troupe member would have a number on the spider tattoo. A real member wouldn't tally their kills because they simply just don't care. There's more but I'm done talking," I say truthfully.
We started paying more attention to the match in front of us. The blue guy was on the floor, and kurapika was explaining to him basically what I just said.
"Wait Annaka, how do you know so much about the phantom troupe," killua asked.
"An assignment," I said. "I failed it, you probably know what happened when I got back." I saw killua looked at me with sad eyes from the corner of my eyes, I acted like I didn't see it though.
Soon enough kurapika was walking back.
"Is it ok to even be around you right now," Leorio asked, backing away from kurapika.
"U-uh sorry, it's just whenever I see a spider, any spider, I freak out," he said, going to sit down.
"I think it's best we keep him away from spiders," Gon whispered to killua, who nodded.
Then a girl with pink hair appeared, she cleared her throat before speaking. "This was a battle to the death, or you had to surrender. I don't think he surrendered. I would like to check if he's just unconscious or if he's dead."
