Twenty-Two
EVEN THOUGH THE EVENT WAS exclusive to the elite people on the island—like Warren said—the night still turned into a busy one. As the clock hits five in the afternoon, staff and organizers for the auction start to fill the mansion, which is not far from the beach house.
From the balcony of his room, David could see the lights coming out of the mansion. Speaking of room, Warren wasn't actually being serious about the whole sharing-the-room thing.
He was just trying to mess with David. Well, it wouldn't have mattered to David anyway if they're really sharing a room. He slept with Riley on the same bed too many times in the past, and that's just a queen-size one. Imagine how much space they'll have on a king-size bed.
Moving on, along with the upcoming auction, David's mind was still dreading his conversation with Warren, one that could lead to yet another heated argument or a civil one resulting for them to really compromised.
Actually, David didn't really expect himself to come up with that kind of idea or even suggest it.
Knowing himself, he'll probably drag the conflict between them until god knows when. So it baffles him that he actually took a step back and met Warren halfway.
He never does this to just anyone, especially to the person who makes his guts coiled in anger with his ridiculous beliefs and principles, but here he was.
At the end of his pondering, he decided not to dwell on why he's going through such lengths for Warren and just focused on the good results this might bring to their developing relationship.
A knock on David's door grabbed hold of his attention and stopped him from tying his half-done tie.
Umalis siya sa harapan ng full-body mirror at tinungo ang pintuan. Bumungad sa kanya ang pamilyar na mga mata.
The hazel-round ones.
"Sir Hiro," David said, clearing his throat. "To whom do I owe the pleasure?"
"Nothing in particular." Hiro casually shrugged his shoulders. "I just wanted to see if you were coming to the auction mansion, and it seems like you were. I'm glad."
Hiro, again, brazenly roves his eyes over David's body. Not even bothering to hide the haze of lust in his eyes.
He wants to eat David. Figuratively and almost literally.
If David wasn't here solely because of his job, he would've taken Hiro's silent offer, but that's not the case here. He has his responsibilities tonight, and that's to guard his cyborg boss.
"You flatter me too much with your words, Sir Hir—"
"Call me, Hiro. Halos magka-edad lang naman tayo." The man cut him off.
Well, if that's what he wants... then, "My apologies, Hiro, but I can't right now. I am here because of a job. Mr. Warren was correct, sa kanya lang dapat ang atensyon ko buong gabi."
Hiro clicked his tongue and tipped his head to the side.
"Then... when is the right time for this?" A seductive grin was plastered on his lips.
Dagliang nagsilakihan ang mga mata ni David sa narinig. Hindi ganun ang reaksyon na inaasahan niya mula kay Hiro.
To be honest, David expected that Hiro would look downcast or lash out for a bit as he turned down his offer, for now. Because the moment David laid his eyes on him, he could sense that this man has a bratty side to him.
