"Come on, I want to learn. I've always seen people do it, you included, and I've never had reason to learn." Ellie begs, putting her hands on his leg."I don't know how to teach it! It's like...I don't know, it's like breathing. I don't think about breathing it just happens." He shrugs.
"What do you do when you make a portal?" She asks.
"I think of where I want to go."
"That's it?"
"That's it. I just picture exactly where I want to be, I think about it very specifically." He chuckles at her eagerness.
"I have wings now, will that help?" She giggles.
"I don't think it's ever helped me but maybe?" He shakes his head with a wide grin.
"Okay hold on." She sighs, turning away from him.
She focuses very hard, her eyes on one stationary spot to think. She tries to imagine being on the sidewalk right outside of his house, right where the stairs end. She pictures the land surrounding his place and the black railing on the stairs. And then when she snaps out of it, nothing is there.
"Okay, why didn't that work?" She asks.
"I don't know! I honestly don't even remember learning. It just kinda happens, I can't explain it." He sighs.
"Hold on, let me try again."
This time she imagines the department store they were at to buy his suit. She imagines the area by the dressing room where she was waiting for him in all of its detail. The red curtains, the big mirrors with a small elevated area, and the two sofas against the wall. And again, nothing.
"Okay, wait, try imagining the last time you were in that place you want to go. Maybe that'll help you." He tries.
She thinks of the same example as before, the department store. She thinks about seeing him walk out in the suit and how she felt seeing him. She pictures the smile on his face when he saw himself and how light everything felt that day. And then all of a sudden, there's a small crackling of light and a portal opens and then immediately closes because of Ellie beginning to cheer.
"Hell yeah! Portal!" She laughs before throwing her arms around the man next to her. He holds her so tightly to him as her laughter fills his senses.
Ellie and Lucifer have spent the better part of a week in his bed. For five days they've just talked, had sex, ate, drank, and laughed. Lucifer would be okay doing that for forever. He feels like he's gotten to know her in a way he's never known anyone this week. By the end of it, he knows her body like the back of his hand. He knows exactly how she likes to be kissed. He knows where she grew up, what her old life was like, and what she wants to do in the future.
He's memorized every single thing she was willing to tell him. He's gotten to experience that sweet morning smile she always had. It was always so perfect and real. He's gotten to wake up with her all over him and go to bed all over her. Ellie made it so incredibly easy to fall in love with her. It would've been impossible not to have fallen for her.
Not when she's the best listener he's ever met. She gives the best advice and she's not afraid to be blunt and tell the truth. But she can also be so sweet and delicate. She would giggle and call him an idiot during the day but in those late nights and early mornings, she would cup his cheeks and kiss him. And not just normal kisses, these kisses rock his world. Her kisses make him want to stay by her side forever.
Ellie has been trying not to think or feel anything. But it's hard when this man you've called your best friend for months smiles at you in this way you can't explain and holds you like nothing else matters but being there with you. He's been so sweet, so tender in everything he does.
