11. Think Fast

"My baby, my poor little baby is gonna be in Heaven alone." Lucifer sighs as he flops on the couch immediately after the portal closes.

"She'll be okay. If anything, she's gonna love it up there, outside of talking with the Angels anyway." Ellie sits down beside him.

"Yeah, you're probably right but I'm nervous. And then if it doesn't work, that could be a whole other can of worms for her to deal with." He tells her worriedly.

"Everything will work out, Lu. She's tough." Ellie tries again.

He looks up at her as he sits up a little from lying on his stomach. He does still look kinda cute but she still can't get past everything else.

"You're incredible, you know that?" He asks.

"I know. I'm great." She smiles and it successfully makes him laugh.

"I never properly thanked you for everything these past couple of days, especially for this morning," He sighs as he looks at her with the smallest smile. "I don't know what I'd do without you."

"I'll always be there for you, you took me in when I had no one." She tells him honestly.

"You're too pretty to be on the street." He laughs.

"Hey, so are you, blondie." She jokes, placing the palm of her hand on his forehead for a moment.

"What do you think Sera's telling everyone in Heaven about what happened to you?" He asks.

"Not the truth. Probably that I sacrificed myself for the cure to cancer or something." She shrugs.

"You're so noble." He chuckles.

"Ugh, I try." She fake gloats.

"But seriously, it means a lot to me how lovely you've been. I hope I can make it up to you one day." He smiles just before her phone begins to ring like crazy. She looks down and Vox is calling hanging up, then calling again over and over to get her attention.

"I swear." Ellie shakes her head.

"Who is it?" He asks.

"Vox. Again. More than once in a year is too much." She sighs before clicking answer and putting it on speaker.

"What do you want?" She asks.

"You." He says immediately and Lucifer and Ellie roll their eyes at the same time.

"Well, that's the one thing you can't have. You're out of wishes." She grins.

"Nah, but seriously, I want an answer. Doll-face, you really can't keep me waiting for this long without a call or even a text." He hums.

"I gave you my answer, I'm not joining you. I'm a one-man operation." She tells him, crossing her arm and leaning further back into yourself.

"That's hot, I'd love to watch you one-man operate yourself," The smile in his voice is very clear. "Unless you want some help. You horny?"

"All the time but never for you." She jokes but Lucifer just looks up to her with wide eyes.

"Shame. If you ever change your mind, I've got a California King and a bottle of champagne with your name on it. And I can buy a big container of strawberries to eat off of your-"

"Fuck NO, I'm hanging up now." She says with her finger over the button.

"If you change your mind-"

She presses the button before he can finish. She tosses her phone on the couch beside her and runs her hands through her hair while taking a deep breath before letting it out.
