35. Only Angel

  "You are so perfect for me," Lucifer whispers before placing a kiss on Ellie's shoulder with his arms wrapping completely around her waist in her bed. "You make me want to run away with you, you know that?"

  "What?" She smiles and he places another kiss on her arm.

  "You make me want to stop being king, to pass it down to Charlie and take you to the beach. If you asked me to, I'd leave most of my life here behind and go live with you in the human realm. You don't understand how fucking good it felt to wake up with you in my arms to the sounds of waves crashing. You make me want to build my life around you and just give you all of me every day, give you my absolute best." He whispers against her skin, absolutely adoring her in the early hours of the morning before the world wakes up.

  "I don't think my father would like it if I ran away." She laughs so softly.

  "He's not a big fan of me, or so I've heard." He chuckles before placing another kiss on her collarbone.

  "I want him to tolerate you, at least. Because I love you so much. I had hope, the smallest tiniest amount of hope that things would be okay with us so I didn't really tell him what was happening. You know, so he wouldn't hate you more." Ellie tells him.
  
  "If he knew just how much I loved you and how I think about you, he would tolerate me. I swear to you, El, I could never want anyone else. Tell me what you want from me and it's yours, my love. If you want me to build you a great big house with a big stable for horses or...or if you want that proposal you were expecting, I will get you a ring as big as your head. After saying that, I realize that sounds like I meant that you have a big head but you don't." He smiles at her so cutely.

  "I didn't want a proposal, I just thought that's what was gonna happen. Everyone was telling me that you were proposing." She laughs.

  "You would've said no?" He asks.

  "We've been together for not even a full year, Lucifer Morningstar, give me three and we'll talk." She wraps her arms tighter around his shoulders and he smiles so widely.

  "I told you I'd give you whatever you want. If three years of my life is what you want, you've got it. If you want the next twenty centuries of my life, those years are yours." He places a kiss on her nose.

  "You just want to be the Prince of Heaven." She jokes.

  "You'd be my queen, this is getting too confusing." He sighs.

  "Again, my father would be mega not happy." Ellie laughs.

  "I want to talk to him," Lucifer says softly and her eyes widen.

  "No, you don't."

  "Yeah, I do. I want to tell him that I am so crazily in love with his daughter and that I'm not evil. I'll tell him you turned my cold black heart into-"

  "He's gonna be so pissed." She giggles before he places another kiss on her neck.

  "You're worth it," He tells her. "You are worth everything. I was fighting so hard for you when I was under that love potion. That's how you ended up with Jack Kelly. Which, by the way, is the cutest name ever."

  "You have to meet him as your normal self, he's gonna love the real you." She smiles.

  "I could hear the thoughts the love potion was making me think and I fought them so hard. I didn't want you to be that lonely when I was pulling away from you even though I didn't want to. So, I marched my happy ass to a dog shelter in the human realm and I picked him for you. That's the part I fought for the hardest. The love potion Luci wanted to get you this hairless cat, can you believe? I remember thinking 'Absolutely not, Ellie deserves a good dog if this could be the last present I give her' so I got Jack Kelly. When I said I wanted him, they said he was the dumb one and asked if I wanted his sister instead but I-"
