"Come on, just try it once! You get so nervous about little things." Ellie tries, resting her arms on her board as Lucifer sits on his nervously.

"If I get swallowed into the ocean, it's your fault." He laughs.

"You act like you can't swim, I swear." She jokingly rolls her eyes.

"It's not about swimming, what if I start to panic which causes me to drown?" He asks.

"You're the King of Hell, you'll be fine. You've probably almost gotten hepatitis twenty times and yet you're scared of water?" She laughs.

"Are you calling me a whore?"

"Wait I thought you can get hepatitis from any bodily fluid. I feel like I dodge cum and blood splatters every day on my way to work." Her eyebrows lift for a moment.

"Okay, I'd rather try to surf than hear about that." He chuckles before taking a deep breath.

"And hey, at least be real, Lu. Everyone around our age range in Heaven knew a lot about you and not cause you fell." She smirks.

"So, you are calling me a whore!" He chuckles.

"I'm not! Coming from the most recent notch in your belt-"

"El, I swear to God!" He covers his face for a moment.

"If sleeping with angels was as big of a problem as humans, I mean." She shrugs.

"Okay, I'm gonna surf now if that's alright with you." He sighs with a smile as he turns more toward the wave coming.

"Okay, the tide is picking up so you should try now before the big ones
come." She tells him.

He stares in front of him nervously. It's early morning so it's just the two of them and the sun. She lays down to paddle her board further away to give him space. Lucifer watches Ellie paddle away, her movements so fluid and natural, clearly at ease with the ocean.

He takes a deep breath, trying to summon the same confidence. The wave approaches, and he tries to steady himself on the board. He feels a surge of determination, but also a rising panic.

"Okay, you can do this," he mutters to himself, positioning his hands and feet as Ellie had shown him. The wave lifts him, and for a brief moment, he feels the thrill of catching it. But as he tries to stand, his balance wavers, and before he knows it, he's tumbling headfirst into the water.

The ocean engulfs him, and he flails, trying to right himself. Saltwater stings his eyes, and his heart races as he fights to surface. Just as panic starts to set in, he feels a strong hand grab his arm and pull him upward. Gasping for air, he breaks the surface and finds himself face-to-face with Ellie. She's grinning, but there's a hint of concern in her eyes.

"See, you survived!" she says, helping him onto her board as she pulls his closer.

"Barely. I think I swallowed half the ocean." He coughs out a mouthful of seawater, shaking his head.

"You did great for your first time. It's all about practice and not panicking," Ellie laughs, her eyes sparkling in the sunlight.

"Easy for you to say. You're a natural." Lucifer groans, rubbing his eyes.

"Hey, everyone starts somewhere. Even the King of Hell has to learn new tricks," She gives him a reassuring pat on the back. "Let's go back to the shore for a bit. You can rest, and we can try again later."

"No, it's okay, you stay out here. I'll just watch for now and I'll consider trying again later." He smiles before he slips back into the ocean, not letting go of her hand as he turns to rest his arms on her board and then resting his head on his arms.
