The Key to Elements

I woke up on a cot made of a metal frame and a cot with fabric stuffed with wool. I tried to sit up, but it was really painful, so I stopped trying. Ash was snoring away in an armchair beside me. There was a table next to me with two platters with bread, rice, and soup on each, so I took one, and ate.

After a while, a girl came to the room. She had light radiating off her, curly blonde hair, and sky blue eyes. She was definitely pretty. "Hello! I am Marigold and I am a healer. I was sent here by the element council to heal you. What is your name?" "My name is Everrett. Sitting over there is Ash."

"Hi Everett! Nice to meet you! Okay, it's time for the healing process. I suggest you sit back and relax."

Marigold closed her eyes and put her hands a few inches above my wound. Her palms levitated above my wound, and yellow particles went from her palms to my wounds. I felt a cooling sensation and I suddenly relaxed. It was even as if I could feel the wound closing up and healing.

"I'm done!" Marigold said after a few minutes. I sat up and I thanked Marigold.

I then woke Ash up, feeling better than I had before I had an icicle through my torso. Ash stirred and finally woke up. When she saw me standing on my own two legs, she was shocked. "How did you heal so fast? I thought it would take at least three weeks to heal, but you were healed in like, what, three hours?"

I chuckled. "I think it was more like three minutes than three hours."

Ash stared at me with awe. "How did you do that?"

"Actually, it wasn't me," I started, "It was Marigold. She healed me." I pointed to her.

For a second, Ash's face flashed with anger and jealousy, but she recovered quickly. "Oh, okay." She said with no hint of emotion.

I saw the flicker of emotion, but I thought that was nothing.

"We really have to continue our quest. Thank you Marigold!" I said.

"Hold your horses," She piped up as I was about to dash out of the room, "I have to come with you."

I groaned. "Let me guess: you are part of another part of the prophecy that I didn't read thoroughly."

Ash interrupted as Marigold opened her mouth to say something. "Yeah I guess. I know that in the prophecy, it said that there would be a girl of light with the brightest soul. I knew it would be you, but I didn't think you would literally be, well, light."

Marigold just shrugged and started towards the door and we quickly followed behind.

When we got outside, we ended up in an urban village that wasn't in the middle of the woods. "Where are we?" I asked Marigold.

"We are in Atlantia, which is two cities away from Growler." Marigold explained "This is where we will unlock the full potential of our powers."

"So we have to train?" I asked.

"I guess." Marigold answered.

I felt excited. I could finally get to use my power. We went to an open field, and saw a small village. There was a gigantic castle which I assumed was the castle of elements where the element chiefs lived. I had heard stories of it but it was stunning in person. We started to go through the open gate, and as we went in, the gate shut behind us. A voice then boomed throughout the castle.

"Welcome, apprentices. I am Spyro, the elemental chief of fire, and this is my brother, Winter, the chief of ice."

Two men dressed oppositely walked up to us. Spyro had red hair and a beard with a noble smile. He looked to be in his mid 30s. Winter had pale blond hair that looked almost white and he looked a bit younger than Spyro. A woman walked in behind them.

"And I am Andromeda, the light chief." Said a blonde haired woman in a white and gold dress as she landed on the ground with her vast golden wings and long luxurious golden blond hair with the same eyes as Marigold. Her wings retracted and even without them, she held power and authority.

"We will be the ones training you for the final battle." Andromeda said.

I stared at them in awe. If we are their apprentices, then we will take their place eventually.

"Your training starts tomorrow. Go to your assigned room, the door will have your element on it, and make sure to get some rest, tomorrow will be a big day." Winter told us. We all walked to our assigned rooms and my jaw dropped when I saw the room. The bed was massive with a flame pattern stitched into the quilt, a gold topped desk with the quill of a phoenix and an inkwell with dark red ink in it. The chair that went with it was more like a throne, as the back of it was embedded with red rubies and orange topazes, and it was as comfy as the bed. The space opened up into a grand bathroom with a spa that took up half of the bathroom. There were red, gold, and white accents all over the room. The toilet was made of solid gold, as with the sink and faucets. I was very exhausted after today, so I bathed and went to bed.
