I woke up in a cave, puzzled. I was propped up against a wall, being supported up by a sack of leaves. I looked at the part of my arm that had a nasty cut, but all I could see was a clean bandage with a small amount of blood starting to leak through. I groaned as I stood up because my head was still impaired from the shield aimed at me due to the tribe leader. "Hello?" I shouted weakly throughout the cave. Someone my age stepped out of an unlit corner of the cave. She had a dark green shirt , light blonde hair, and ice blue eyes. "You good?" she asked.
"Yeah." I replied. "What is this place? Where am I? Who are you?"
"I am Ashley, but just call me Ash." She said, "You are in my cave close to the end of the Forest of Spire. I was walking and I saw you battling the Tribe of the Shadows, so I helped you."
"Thank you. You really saved me back there. I really appreciate it. By the way, my name is Everett" I replied.
I then stood up, wincing in pain as I straightened my arm. "Here, have this, Everett" Said Ash, holding a vial filled with a bright blue liquid. "It's pixie blood. It'll heal your arm much faster and efficiently than just a banda]
ge. Just pour it on your bandage and your injury will heal in about two hours."
I took the vial and poured it on my bandage and felt a cooling sensation on the wound. It still hurts, but much less.
"What are you doing all the way out here by yourself?" I asked.
"I had parents, but my father died trying to defeat the great beast of Growler, and my mother got sick and died. Ever since, that was my goal. I've tried countless times but I still ended up retreating at the end. I still have scars to show it." Ash lifted up her shirt half way, exposing scratches, burns and bruises on her torso.
"Well, luckily, I am the wielder of the Firebird." I said, "and I'm on my way to defeat that very beast."
"Liar." Ash growled, unconvinced. "Show me your sword and prove it."
I unsheathed Phoenix, gripping the scarlet handle and holding it out for Ash to see.
"Ok, I am convinced. Then I'll help you, Everett." She said
"No. This is my mission. I'm going alone."
"I need to come. Didn't you read the entire scroll?"
I had to admit, I didn't. "No." I replied.
She unsheathed her sword and it looked exactly like mine, except it was ice-blue and the area where the heart should have been was a ridge that looked like a giant scale.
"You need the heart of the firebird and I need the scale of the ice dragon. Correction, we are the ones in the prophecy. Not just you." Ashley said.
Wow, I really should have read the scroll entirely. I sighed and I nodded. "Let's go!" I exclaimed.
"Hold on," Ash said, "Lemme get my armor." She disappeared behind a corner and a couple minutes later, she came back with armor that looked like mine except it had an ice blue color to it. "Now I'm ready."
