We were all heading towards the raid, a newfound adrenaline rushing through our veins. Ash and Winter were quickly skating on ice that they created under them. Aspen and Azalea were bounding ahead, in their tiger and deer forms. Brooke and Marina were in their animal forms too; Brooke a sea serpent and Marina a water dragon. Onyx was flying in his half raven half human form, and Sage was running and teleporting every few feet in his wolf form. Marigold was a beam of light shooting towards the village, Andromeda flying closely behind in her bird form. I was propelling myself into the air with flames that shot from my hand to the ground, and Spyro was bounding in front as a fiery fox.
The village was in view, but it wasn't the calmness I was used to seeing. There was screaming and destruction coming from the village, and bloodlust radiating off of the few raiders in my view. Winter then took the lead and divided us into groups. Me, Onyx, and Marigold would be going to the fire side of the village, while Aspen, Brooke, and Ash would be going to the ice side, along with our mentors. We split and went to the corresponding village.
My feet hit the ground as I landed on the warm stone, called ignistone. Three raiders came to confront us, so the three of us each took one down quickly.
"We have to spread out, but stay close enough together that you can aid one another." Sage instructed us.
We nodded. A raider then crept up behind Marigold.
"Marigold watch out!" I was about to say, but it was too late. The raider struck a fist in the back of her head. She then dropped to the ground, face contorted in pain. Spyro bit the raider's arm and threw him into a nearby wall. "Marigold, are you okay?" Spyro asked as he turned back to human.
"I'll be fine." She replied, wincing as she stood up.
"Okay. Andromeda, you, Everett, and Onyx beat the raiders that are flying." Spyro told her, "Me, Marigold, and Sage will beat the ones on the ground."
We nodded. Andromeda, Onyx, and I turned to our animal forms and took to the skies.
The silhouette of flying raiders riddled the skies like holes in a target after bow and arrow training. One of them shot after me with increasing speed, water around him like a shield. I swiftly dodged to the left and hit him with a blue fireball, which sent him barreling to the ground. Using my icefire drains a lot of energy when I'm farther away from Ash, I thought. I have to limit how much I use it. Keeping that in mind, I fought the flying foes with Onyx and Andromeda.
After a while, we were getting tired. My flames didn't have as much punch as it used to, and Onyx's darkness was just not dark enough. For Andromeda though, it looked like she was just getting started. It makes sense, I said to myself, she can use sunlight to her advantage and as fuel. Same with Marigold. I looked down and saw her light flashing around the village.
A trio of raiders snuck up behind me and released their onslaught on me. One repeatedly shot jets of water at my wings, and another wrapped tendrils of darkness around them. The sound of my wingbeats then ceased and suddenly I was falling to the ground. I turned back to human and attempted to propel myself with jets of fire. My fire wasn't strong enough to hold me though. I was still tumbling to the ground. The only thing I could do was envelope myself in flames and hope for the best. The edges of my vision showed raiders swooping in on me like vultures around roadkill. I shut my eyes tight and waited for the universe to decide my fate.
