I woke up shortly after in a cart pulled by two of the raiders. My arms and legs were bound with elementium so I couldn't escape even if I tried. I looked around in the bouncing cart, trying to find something, like a key or a dagger, to release myself, but unfortunately there was nothing. I tried turning into my phoenix form, but the elementium blocked my ability to do so. I sighed. I would have to wait for a miracle to come to me.
I calmly sat in the bouncy cart, waiting for even the slightest chance for me to escape.
Suddenly, a yelp came from the front and the cart stopped abruptly, sending me flying forward. I stretched my head to the front to see what was happening.
From what I could see, multiple unconscious raiders littered the ground in front of the cart. I wonder who or what caused that. Maybe someone is rescuing me! I quickly stamped that idea down. That is not possible. Is it? I wondered. A bolt of pure electricity then went past me. My heart quickened. Someone is using one of the Lost Elements. But is it friend or foe? My question was answered as a figure stepped into my view.
"Hey, Everett. Long time no see, right?" The figure had chestnut colored hair with a red tinge like mine and a scar on his cheek right below his eye. At that moment, I realized that he was my dad. But how?
"Dad?" I choked out, "I thought you were dead."
Dad chuckled heartily. "Your mother told you that because I had to keep what I do a secret until you go on your quest. Telling you I was dead is what I was supposed to do." He took a key out of one of his pockets and unchained me. "Now, come give your old man a hug." He opened his arms out wide and I hugged him, tears spilling down my cheeks.
He then quickly released me right after. "Look," he said, "I would love to spend the rest of today with you, but right now, we got some bandits to beat."
I nodded, still surprised that he was here. I then quickly disliked him. He left me, not even telling me or my mother. My mother probably knows about this too. I shook my head. What's a little honesty gonna do?
I followed my dad. "Can you fly?" he asked me
"Yeah, why?" I asked. I should have said no.
"Okay, good. Follow me and if we get attacked, just fight them off."
Dad turned into his animal form, which is a great big falcon, and he sped off into the air. I flew into the air after him in my animal form too.
"Where are we going?" I yelled after him.
"To the raid boss. If the raid boss falls, then the raiders will retreat." he pulled in next to me. "We need some
of your little friends to come help. We can't beat Kaia by ourselves."
"Kaia? Who is she?" I asked, " I know she's a raid boss, but I need to know who she is so I can choose the right people."
He smiled with whatever ability he had using his beak. "Kaia Aurellius. She uses a Forbidden Element, which is steel. She's the most powerful raider but she hasn't attacked the city in years. From my knowledge, I think you should bring your icy girlfriend and the nice water girl because they can corrode her steel if used properly."
I nodded. "Wait, how do you know Ash is my girlfriend?"
"I've been watching you, waiting until The Time Is Right." He then winked at me. "You got yourself a fine lady right there. Ash, that's her name eh? You got you a strong woman."
I thought about Ash. "Yeah, she's awesome. She's... different."
"Is that her right there?" Dad nodded to Ash below us in the Ice village fighting with Aspen and Brooke and their mentors on the ground.
