Newt's pov:
I am a light sleeper. So any kind of noise near me is enough to wake me up. Usually it's not a problem as the entire glade go to bed at the same time but recently around every morning at 4, I've been hearing someone walking. There are lots of leaves near the hammocks and at the same time every day I hear them crunch as someone walks over them. I have pretended to stay asleep and they seemed to have not noticed. Today I was going to figure out who it was. The sun tends to rise at about 5 am so most of us wake up to broad daylight. Tonight when I heard them walk past I would secretly open my eyes and catch them. I was sound asleep in bed and then I heard it. Someone was walking. Luckily I was already on the right side so I just opened my eyes. I looked down at their boots. Huh. They didn't look like any of the boots I had seen anyone wearing. I slowly turned my head up to see what they were wearing. A pair of grey joggers and a green long sleeved top.
No it can't be. Why is Y/n waking up at 4 every morning? And why is she walking past all the hammocks.
The strange thing about the crunching was that I never ever heard it again signalling their return. No, they were waking up at 4 and staying up. I waited for her to walk past until I couldn't hear her anymore. I sat up in my hammock. And watched her walk off into the dead heads. I crept behind. Hiding behind trees in attempts to not get caught. She climbed up a tree. The tree that I always sat at the bottom of when I talked to myself. I suddenly thought back to the times when she would disappear randomly. Oh my god. This is where she went. I looked up at her from a distance. She seemed to be holding some kind of notepad and pencil. She flicked through a few pages until she reached a blank one and started to draw the sunrise. I was close enough to see the drawings on the previous pages. Wow. I mean they were incredible. There was one specific one of a butterfly that was just so incredibly detailed. I decided to walk back to my hammock. I waited and waited for her to walk back and go back to her hut. I knew she couldn't have slept long because we had only gone to bed at 11 and it was now 4:30. But she never did. It eventually reached wake up time and I saw everyone get up out of bed. We all headed to breakfast. I was exhausted from not sleeping. I mean I only got 5 hours!
After about 5 minutes of sitting down, Y/n walked in. Somehow she looks like she had slept amazingly and smiled at me before sitting down. Her hair was perfectly straight as always and she looked gorgeous. She was wearing the same outfit as she was when she went up the tree.
"You alright Newt? You look like you didn't sleep very well." She said in a concerned tone.
"I'm alright love. Just a bit tired" I responded.

- Y/n pov:
Since I had not been sleeping recently, I had been creeping out of bed every night at 4 on the morning to watch the sunrise from my tree. It was struggle to hide though as I had to walk past the boys' hammocks to reach the tree and based on the leaves on the ground, I made quite some noise. Nevertheless I hadn't had any issues yet. Nobody seemed to notice. I would sit up there and draw as usual and observed the beautiful colours that covered the sky. Oranges, yellows, pinks, purples. It was like a dream. Even on the dark and gloomy days, the sky would light up. Today I decided to draw the actual sunrise. It was gorgeous.
I tended to use the sunrise as a coping mechanism from whatever I had previously done that night. Last night specifically. I was thinking about what Billy had written. I really was fat. I knew it deep down. So I had taken my dagger and used it. I didn't want to be here anymore. Why be here if I can't sleep, if I'm not pretty? My wrists were marked with small red lines. They covered them completely and stung like hell. I decided I did not need anyone to see them so I put in a long sleeve green top. It covered them nicely. Hopefully nobody would notice.

After breakfast I started the work day. It was so hot I was sweating uncontrollably. All the boys were in tank tops or not wearing any top at all. Clint and Jeff asked me if I wanted to run back to my hut and change but I insisted I was fine. I didn't want anyone to see my wrists.
I don't know how everyone would react, but no matter how they did, I didn't want to know.

Lunch rolled around and I sat with my ham sandwich at the same table as always. I halved one of my sandwiches and nibbled at the edge. I looked down at my stomach. I definitely did not need anymore that's this half. I finished the half and hid the other in my pocket. Hopefully nobody had noticed and they all thought I just ate it. I left the hall and went back to work. The afternoon was even hotter than the morning and I was severely suffering, but never took off my top.
I was prepping some bandages when Newt walked in, a slash on his arm.
"What have you done now" I huffed rolling my eyes.
"Zart tripped over and accidentally slashed my arm." He replied.
I sat him down and observed the cut.
"Y/n, are you sure you aren't too hot?" He asked innocently.
"Yeah I'm fine." I said reassuringly, sweat building on my forehead.
"Ok.." he said like he didn't believe me.
"All fixed!" I said happily and ushered him out the door.

Phew that was stressful. Newt was almost always the kind of person to worry and I knew that this was gonna to plague his mind and it didn't help that whenever I got close to him, I started to get sweaty palms because of my nerves.
Every time I smelt that vanilla-like butter scent, butterflies filled my stomach. I loved him so much but knew that I was not in a place to love someone the right way or at least the way Newt deserved.
I finished up work and headed back to my hut. There I found a piece of paper on the bed.
It read, 'A whole ham sandwich! Wow, you really are a pig'.
