Y/n pov:

I sat on the top tree branch for at least an hour maybe two, thinking to myself, trying to remember anything, while watching the sunset. I heard many voices shouting round the glade. They were all shouting something like 'she-bean' or 'greenie'. I didn't reply. Two boys walked under the tree shouting for me but inevitably still strolling further through the woods. I watched as a single figure, taller and larger than the other two, approach the tree.
He shouted up to me "How long were you planning on staying up there all silent?" He said before looking up to meet my eyes.
Shit! I thought no one had noticed i was up here but clearly I was wrong.
"I don't know. Maybe til I felt like coming down?" I replied before the figure began to climb up toward me.
When reaching mid way up he was finally close enough for me to identify as Billy. Billy is Gally's best friend here in the glade and I didn't trust anyone yet, but especially not those two.
"So how do you feel about the glade?" He asked before reaching the top and perching next to me.
"What the place where I am stuck surrounded by a bunch of effing boys and no girls whatsoever? Yeah I love it" I rolled my eyes.
"Very feisty I see" he said before winking at me.
Ugh why can't everyone just leave me alone alone I thought.
"You know everyone is running around the glade searching for you, right?"
I nodded in reply.
"You are the first ever girl and suddenly you've just disappeared. Alby is freaking out". He mentions.
I chuckle slightly before responding "Well maybe if everyone just gave me space, I wouldn't have to hide!" I said before turning to face Billy who was smiling ear to ear, trying not to laugh.
"Let's get you down then" Billy said before lowering himself onto the branches below and before I knew it we were back on the ground.

He marched me over to where Alby was, who looked like someone had just died.
"Found her Alby." Billy blurted out. Alby turned to face me and sighed with so much relief it was like he was told that the end of earth had been delayed for another million years. Alby immediately embraced me and looked deep into my eyes before commanding "Do not ever worry us like that again. Ok!?"
I silently nodded in return.
Alby loudly whistled some kind of bird call and all the gladers came back in an instant.
"We were worried about you greenie!" Newt shouted before hugging me like he hadn't seen me in years.
"Would you stop calling me that!" I shouted.
"What do you want us to call you. Shank?" Gally said teasingly.
"No my name is..my name is.. my name is-" "Y/n" I muttered to myself before shouting it across the glade. "Y/n! That's my name!"
The rest of the gladers erupted into cheers and claps and pats on the back.
I was proud. I had remembered something about me. Something I knew about myself.

- tiny little time skip -
The bonfire was blazing and the glade was practically rioting with laughter and noise. I hated it. Though I didn't tell them.
This was a 'greenie tradition'.

I sat down by a log with my back up against it. A figure walked over and sat beside me. The same tall, dark haired boy from before. Billy.
"Hey there y/n! You not joining in the traditions?" He inquired.
"I..um... I don't like to party." I said.
"Oh. Well that's ok. Everyone has their things."
He smiled down at me. I felt butterflies cluttering my stomach.
Was I falling for him? No way. We only just met! But I gazed into his gorgeous ocean blue eyes.
Billy handed me a drink and said "Tell me what you think. It's Gally's secret recipe."
I sipped the liquid in the old jar before immediately spitting it out again.
"Ewww! What the fuck is in that!" I asked as Billy shrugged,
"No idea." He responded."Gally hasn't told anyone."
"Well that just tastes vile." I chuckle to Billy. Who chuckles back.
He really did seem sweet no matter how shady he was.
A cold gust of wind blew through the glade causing goosebumps to attack my skin. I shivered.
"Omg! Y/n. You are freezing! Here take my jacket." Billy replied.
"No I could never!" I said pushing his arm back as he tied to offer it to me. "Then you would be cold!" I reasoned.
"I have spares!" He insisted before placing the jacket over my shoulders. I instantly felt warm and happy. I could smell his signature smoky scent all over the jacket, placing my mind at ease.
I snuggled my head into the crease of his neck and gently shut my eyes. I didn't re-open them until the next morning.

When I awoke, I found myself in a hammock. I sat up and looked around to see all the others empty. Stood next to me was a tall handsome figure. I knew from the smell that it was Billy, I didn't even have to look.
"What's the time?" I asked before looking up at him.
"11 am" he said gently.
"Where is everyone else?"
"Working" he said.
"And why am I still here?"
"Alby agreed to let you have a lay-in on your first proper day." He replied.

I glanced down at my stomach. It rumbled loudly as if me telling Billy wouldn't work.
"I think I am a bit hungry." I say with a smile.
"I'll go grab some food. Be right back" he said dashing off smiling.
I realised I was in the same clothes I had worn yesterday and my hair was a mess. So as quickly as I could, I brushed and braided my hair, and found a box of girl clothes next to my hammock, before changing.
When Billy returned, he stopped in front of me, his jaw dropped in awe.
"You look gorgeous!" He whispered.
I blushed like a tomato. Our eyes locked.
I walked slowly up to him and he walked up to me before with both kissed each other.

Author's note:
Hey there! Don't worry if you are wondering why there isn't y/n and Newt romance, I promise it is coming. I just wanted to say that this is set before the maze is fully mapped, and before the og maze runner plot begins.
