Alex set his laptop back into the barrack at where his bed is. When he got out to join K-unit, Eagle started to bombard him with questions. "Why are you here so early?"
"Mission ended early."
"What's the mission about?"
"Classified." Eagle pouted at the answer but knows better than to push it. "Where is the mission?" Alex glanced at him as he considered whether it's alright to tell them or not. "America."
"So you got on a plane yesterday?"
"No," Alex said sarcastically," I teleported here." Alex rolled his eyes.
"Do you-" Eagle was interrupted by someone calling out to Alex. "Hey cub!" Jaguar yelled across the field. Alex raised a hand as a greeting. The SEALS eyed Alex's movement cautiously still suspicious of the young kid. Is he here because his rich parents sent him here? But he does go on mission so that means he isn't here because of his parents. Did his parents do something wrong that there kid has to do this dirty work for the intelligence? Typhoon was about to ask Alex something when he was interrupted... Not that he started his sentence anyways. Meh.
"You need to do your evaluation, Cub!" The sarge yelled from across the field, making the nearby soldiers jump out of their skins and have their hearts racing. Alex nodded as he was too tired to even shout or move for the matter of fact. "Let's go! You can can observe how SAS courses are done with this evac." Wolf said as he led them all to the assault course. "Really Wolf?" Alex asked, as he saw where they were heading.
"What? Wolf asked almost too innocently. Alex glared at Wolf who just grinned in return. "What's going on?" Hurricane, the slow poke, asked. "He planned this. He wants Cub all wet and muddy, then starts the other evac." Fox explained.
"Oh. Poor me. I'm gonna be freezing and I'll have hypothermia." Alex said all too dramatic for his normal closed off character and then rested a hand on his chest and leaned on Snake for support. Too dramatic. Is he okay? Omg. Does he have a fever? Did he knock his head or something?!
"Uh... Are you okay Cub?" Eagle asked, almost like he was afraid. Alex's calm emotionless face raised an eyebrow. "Why wouldn't I be?" Alex asked, all that dramatics gone. The rest of k-unit stared at him weirdly from his quick and sudden changes back and forth. "Are you sure?"
"Why not?" Alex answered the question with a question, ah, the spy's habits. Tsk, tsk, tsk. "You seem... I don't know, weird? Different?" Alex stared right back and blinked once before turning away. "I don't know. Maybe I'm not me. Maybe my twin is here instead of the real me. My evil clone." Alex said nonchalantly with a shrug.
"WHAT?!"
"Relax... I was just joking. That evil clone is dead already." Alex said waving them off.
"How did he die?" Fox asked the question playing in everyone's minds.
"... I killed him?"
"You killed your brother?" Wolf asked in shock, that statement made Alex cringe from a memory. "Eww. No he is not my brother!"
"Then how is he your f*ing twin?"
"I said clone. Someone decided to want to make rebel children into good kids by making multiple clones of himself then operating on the clones with plastic surgery." Alex said and thanked God that they finally reached the assault course. Alex jogged to the starting point and Wolf yelled a 'start' which caused Alex to bolt through the assault course. "Omg! Did you see that?!" Hurricane exclaimed in awe as he saw Alex jump onto a tree and flipped off to land safely on the other side of the wall. "Sh*t I missed it." Typhoon cursed as he missed it because he blinked. Alex finished and jogged back to them, not even out of breath just breathing a little deeper. Alex ran a hand through his hair to cover up the fact that his hands twitched up towards his ribs to want to rub away the pain. "Improvement Cub. 8 minutes and 5 seconds. Improved by 55 seconds."
"Not good enough." Alex commented which shocked everyone. "What do you mean not good enough?!" A voice from behind them asked. "Sir!" They greeted, snapping to attention.
"At ease soldiers. So Cub, answers please." Tyler asked politely.
"In the world espionage, sir," Alex said emphasising on the word 'sir',"improving by seconds is not good enough. Speed, accuracy and cruelty is needed to survive, sir." Least to say everyone was extremely blown by his reason. They were completely overwhelmed by his way of thinking. He is just a kid for gods sake! Tyler suddenly looked saddened by the way this particular kid thinks. No kid should ever need to think this way. No kid. This kinda helped earn some sort of respect from the Navy SEALS. "Alright Cub." He said quietly. The most quiet k-unit has ever heard him before. "Continue your evac." He said before taking a step forward and suddenly stopping, inches away from Alex who flinched a little unintentionally but hoped no one noticed. Everyone did, unfortunately. What the hell... Why? What happened to cause such a reaction? "Know that I'm here if you need someone to talk to." Tyler said almost too silently, Alex fortunately picked it up thanks to his sharp ears. Alex nodded as a sign that he has heard him, Tyler saw that small nod and started to walk away to yell at other soldiers to vent from how angry he felt at the world of espionage using the kid. They completely changed his thinking. All good were somewhat twisted into having an evil intention in the kid's mind. He is wary of things that a veteran aren't as alert to or too worried about. The things he knows are all like a second nature. Excellent at language, excels in shooting, incredible speed and agility, etc.
Wolf led them to the combat area. almost half the population of SAS soldier were there. "The heck is going on here?" Typhoon asked in surprise. "You guys really want to kill me don't you?" Alex commented dryly. Jaguar, the best hand-to-hand combat fighter cracked his knuckles and grinned. "Bring it on Cub. You vs. at least half the population of SAS soldiers, and just a heads up, at least three-quarters of the soldiers here are the best hand-to-hand fighters in their unit."
"Do I have to enter curse word here or?" Alex asked, waving a finger pointing to the ground to indicate a blank space in the sentence.
"That would be preferred, Cubbie. To boost our self-esteems." Eagle said. Alex's eyes swept through the room to take in the positions of his opponents. "Sh*t then. I'm screwed." Alex said even though the SAS knew they were the ones screwed but hey! He at least knows how to boost people's confidence. "You guys should probably shift upstairs-" a soldier said but was cut off by a loud 'HA!' like when you would start a move in Taekwondo or something and you yell to intimidate your opponent or when you use a lot of force. Well, in Alex's case he actually doesn't make a noise in martial arts. He just moves through the crowd, taking them all out along the way and using one person to take out multiple people. In 2 minutes, more than half the soldiers were all down and have moved to the side to make space, leaving only a few to cower in Alex's invincible and literally out of the world skills. No one saw him move but he did as one of them was swung through the air and sailed towards a few others. Alex blocked a strike and pinned the last man down in a painful arm lock. The man tapped on the ground to signal him to let go. Alex released his grip and extended a hand to help. The man decided to pull him down but Alex apparently anticipated that move because he twisted to avoid landing and he cartwheeled into a standing position. Alex cocked his head slightly, as if challenging anyone to try take him on. "Going once?!" A random soldier yelled out, knowing what Alex's head tilt meant. "Going twice?!"
"4k." Typhoon yelled out to say that his unit of four wants to take Alex on. "Anymore? It's a magnificent opportunity to get your ass kicked by a minor-"
"He isn't a minor." Wolf defended.
"Chill Wolf." The soldier said waving him off. "Opportunity sold! To the SEALS." The said team went to the ring formed by the gathering soldiers and stood in formation, surrounding Alex. Alex eyed them, waiting for them to strike. Hurricane struck first, then the rest followed. Alex dodged and blocked, choosing not to strike them... Yet. He wanted to see how his opponents fight. Riptide, the quiet one, is the best fighter in the unit. Alex finally made his move and took down all four of them. That barely lasted for more than half a minute.
"Okay... Let's move on!" Wolf shouted and led the 2 units to the shooting range.
"Oh, Cub! It's been a long time!" The shooting instructor greeted.
"Afternoon sir."
"What are you doing here?"
"Evac, sir."
"Great. I want you to test this out. It's a new gun." The instructor said handing Alex the new and polished gun. "SIG Sauer P226. Don't you guys already use this?"
"Yep but this is the new ones that just came in. We need someone who expertise in this."
"Aren't you the expert in this?" Alex asked as he turned to face the target but his eyes never left the gun as he begun stripping the gun, then took his eyes off to look at the instructor but his hands never stopped moving as he assembled it while the instructor's eyes drifted to Alex's hand. He smirked at Alex and just tilted his head towards the target. "Go on."
"You don't have to say that twice." Alex said before raising the gun and pulled the trigger without aiming, like what he always does. The SEALS', who were expecting him to aim and take at least a minute to empty the clip, jaw dropped. "Not bad for a new one." Alex commented as he checked the gun again by stripping it. "Oh you know what? Bad." Alex said when he looked at the insides.
"Why?" Alex didn't answer but he simply handed the part that was literally charred on the inside by the bullet that was propelled through. "That means a product recall on the company's part or we exchange the goods."
Alex went over and pulled out a new SIG and tested it on another target before stripping it but this time he fired once only. "Maybe it's just me..." Alex said as the part that was suppose to be charred wasn't. Alex put the gun together and fired off the remaining bullets with the same speed as he first did it. Gotta love instinctive firing. Then stripped it to find it charred. "Nope. Send the guns back. They are suppose to be able to withstand continuous firing." Alex said, handing the gun to the instructor who turned to bark at the other soldiers to do use their guns right before stalking off towards the sergeant's office.
"Where did you learn that?" Typhoon asked suspiciously. The only time they have seen instinctive firing was the encounter with Scorpia. They barely made it out alive. Alex eyed them from the corner of his eye. "Classified." Alex said before focusing his attention on something else or should I say someone. Eagle was busy blabbering his head off with Hurricane. "Are they gonna shut up?" Snake asked, almost glaring at the two. "I don't think so... Unless." Alex said as he walked over and tapped Eagle before running off towards the area where they have their language class. "Hey! No fair!" Eagle whined before running after the retreating figure. "That's a smart move. Why did we not think of that before?" Wolf questioned as they took their normal pace to the classroom.
They entered and found Eagle on the ground, staring at the ceiling. "Eagle!" They ran to him thinking he's dead. "I'm okay!" Eagle defended, trying to swat Snake's hand away. "Then why the f* are you laying on the ground?!" Wolf growled, angry that his teammate gave him a fright.
"Just chillin' and waiting for Cub to get down." Eagle replied.
"Huh?" They all were utterly confused and they looked up to see what he meant. Alex was up on the ceiling, dangling by his legs. "How did he get up there?" Wolf asked.
"He climbed. He was there before I got here." Eagle explained still staring at Alex who was now swinging from bar to bar, like he has a death wish. It's a good three stories off the ground. Eagle was awfully quiet. "Why are you so quiet?" Fox asked, worried about the usually hyper teammate. "I don't know... I guess, I'm just worried?"
"About what?" Alex asked as he free fall down, making everyone panic. But he twisted himself and grabbed hold of one of the bars located on the sides of the classroom he used to get to the ceiling. Now he is just merely a few meters off the ground and the childish part of him decided to jump down instead of taking the safe way down.
"Bruh! Don't do that ever again!" Eagle exclaimed pouncing on Alex who simply rolled away from danger. "I can't guaranteed that." Alex said as he sat down to signal that he wanted no more chitchat but more of getting the work done. Language, you could say, made the SEALS' jaws drop again. How many language does the kid know?!
Riptide noticed they didn't cover the language he knows. It's a severely endangered language from native to Serbia, Russia. Let's find out if Cub knows it.
"How are you?" When Riptide spoke, the entire SEALS unit looked like they have seen ghost. He just spoke. He spoke! Even if it's in a different language! He spoke! Ahhhhhhhhhh!
"You just- you-" hurricane's stuttering was cut off by Alex replying with the same language. "I'm good. Sit." Alex said jerking his head to the chair. They exchanged sentences back and forth, asking questions and the other answering.
"So why do you not talk to your team?" Alex asked in the endangered language.
"... Because..." Riptide trailed off and Alex raised an eyebrow prompting him to continue. "I have a really good friend I trusted but I don't know what happened, he suddenly stopped talking to me and told people my secrets."
"You know you can trust your unit."
"What do you mean?"
"Talk to them. Have you seen their reaction when you spoke even though they totally did not understand a single word you said? They wouldn't go around spilling your secrets. They are willing to wait for you to tell them, people who wants to spill you secrets wouldn't wait, they would have pressed you for it if they actually have wanted to betray you. You guys work well together, even though they don't know much about you. Once or twice they would ask you to talk only because they don't want you to be bottling things up and then exploding. It's gonna kill. Them and you. They care about you." Alex said with no emotions but his voice was very seriously.
Alex being able to get Riptide to talk earned him a little more respect. Riptide also swelled with more respect for cub, a kid that was able to be so deep was rare. A kid that doesn't belong in this world, this world of espionage and death. His eyes were so dead, so void of emotions, it's scary. They rarely see it especially not on a teen.
"Alright! Dinner time!" Alex said, standing up.
"What language was that?!" Eagle asked, excited and curious about the strange language. Alex and Riptide looked at each other. Alex then jerked his head at them whilst still facing Riptide, he was asking Riptide to tell them! "It's an severely endangered language native to Serbia, Russia. It's called 'Even Language.'" The remaining SEALS jaw dropped again for the thousandth time today. "He spoke!" Hurricane exploded and begin bouncing around in excitement.
"Get use to it." Riptide said.
"He spoke again!"
"He is gonna stop speaking if you're gonna react this way." Riptide joked, which made them all clamp their mouths shut. "Omg Cub. Thank you so much." Typhoon said. Alex just nodded and turned swiftly for the exit to the messhall. It seems he already proved himself and managed to earn their respect.
