My Affinity Is... What?

Jayden felt his hair being blown back by the strong winds raised by the wolf's howl.

It wasn't an attack, but Jayden knew that it could lead to something a lot more devastating than any of the wolf's attacks.

Predators that excelled in the dark will find their way towards the bright light momentarily seen and Jayden didn't want to face the onslaught of several beasts at once, he hadn't reached that level yet.

The Lone Wolf Hunter had sacrificed itself to bring a horde of beasts towards Jayden, in a desperate attempt to kill him. It's mouth, neck, chest and probably it's internal organs had been destroyed beyond any form of repair and was releasing smoke, a testament to the scorching lightning bolts that had ravaged it.

Jayden –thanks to the Creation Orb– had been healed slightly and was able to think properly but at the cost of a mind splitting headache. He bled from his nose from time to time, but it was ignored for the time being because he had more pressing matters to attend to at the moment.

Jayden looked at the sword in his hands briefly before placing it back into the Void Space, Jayden also noticed the new form in which the Void Space materialized, things seemed to have changed but he didn't have the time to check them out yet.

He activated his Mech suit and dashed through the maze of trees. His aim, to leave the forest.

Jayden encountered the first beast not long after, a centipede that had at least five hundred legs scampered with an agility that could rival a domestic dog's speed.

Jayden didn't waste too much time on the beast and punched its head, it exploded into fragments of exoskeleton, flesh and blood.

He summoned Draven out of the Void Space and gave him the orders to pick up the beasts he killed and store their corpses in the Void Space. Draven somehow understood Jayden's commands and followed them immediately.

Jayden also noticed the difference in Draven's looks straight away the moment he saw him.

For one his name had changed, previously it was [Dark Coal Panther], but had now been changed to [Black Coal Panther], which probably was in sync with his looks, it would be very hard to see Draven under the dark sky unless a night vision goggle or ability was used.

A new information showed beneath his status –[Affinity]– something he had noticed in the [Anukura Centipede]s information too.

"Nahshon, does affinity mean the element the beasts are more in tune with?" Jayden asked and gritted his teeth in pain, his head ache made his consciousness waver but he had to keep getting as far away from he and the Wolf's battlefield as much as possible.

[Yes]

[Not just beasts, but humans too]

"What do you mean?" Jayden asked deeply intrigued.

[Humans also have affinities to not just elements but also other powers]

"Expatiate." Jayden simply said admist tormenting head aches.

[In the future, there have been cases of humans demonstrating a high tolerance to different elements and aspects of reality after fusing with a Creation Orb]

[Experiments were made to figure out this phenomenon]

[Different tests were made to understand what was happening and after some years of non stop trial and error, the first elementalist was birthed... Yvonne Varscarta]

"I've heard that name before, wasn't she announced dead some years ago?" Jayden said, surprised.

Apparently Yvonne Varscarta was a prodigy of Planet Grenkar, she was one of the best Mech suit wielders of mankind until she died in an accident some years ago. No one was told of what accident it was, but rumors spread about that she was killed instantly in the accident with no way of rescuing her.

She was once a participant of the Interstellar Tournament and came out at the third position with two different powerful races coming out on top. It was a first for humanity to reach a position like that in the Interstellar Tournament and that was unfortunately the last time in the past fifteen years.

[Her death was faked]

"Why will she do that?"

[She did not, she was kidnapped, and so as to not let out the incompetency of her security provided to her by the higher ups, her death was faked as a  cover up]

"How are elementalist created?" Jayden shifted the topic to what intrigued him the most and ignored the fact that Yvonne Varscarta was kidnapped. It wasn't his problem after all.

[They are to fuse with a Creation Orb first of all to guarantee their safety, then tests will be made to see how they react to the elements and other aspects of reality]

[After that is done, they will be forced to cultivate in an area filled with the element or aspect of reality that they are in tune with, that will lead to them gaining control of the said element or aspect of reality and using skills that are related to them with ease]

[Though they are not able to produce the element easily without years of hardwork and dedication]

"So a person with lightning affinity can conjure and control lightning?" Jayden asked as he continued to run while oneshotting beasts constantly. Most of which were weak. "This feels almost like a fantasy world!!"

[Like I said, they can't conjure, but can control the element or aspect of reality]

[And to your other statement, when technology advances to a certain point, it almost feels like magic]

"Ok, that settles it for now. Bring up my stats, I want to know my affinity." Jayden ordered.
