The woman took them to the first set of stairs as she grabbed the bottom of the staircase and lifted, exposing a secret passage as the door moved down and laid on the floor. They looked down at the pitch-black passage. "That room hasn't been used in years, not since what happened in there." She stated. "Yeah, what happened?" Kyle asked as he acted defensive. She looked at him. "He can tell you." She spoke as Luka looked back at Kyle.
The two men descended the pitch-black stairs, the smell of must and mold more poignant in their noses. The staircase was closed behind them as they were left in pitch blackness. The men turned on night visions in their corneal implants and moved along. There were rows of rooms on the right side of the long corridor. Cobwebs above their head and the sound of water dripping from old pipes. The first three rooms had lights on inside, the sound of voices in other languages heard as the men moved along. Luka stopped at a black door with an old gold placard number '5' on it. Luka grabbed the door handle and turned it as the door opened and creaked. He noticed the light as he turned it out, exposing a room way out of its time.
Thick cobwebs covered the walls and ceiling, dust thick on everything. The men looked to the right of the room; an old Christmas tree stood in the corner covered in the thick dust. The furniture was straight out of a 50's magazine, nicer in its time. The men turned to the left and saw and old kitchen with a dining table. The room was short. If Luka was a couple inches taller, he would be hitting the ceiling. Luka looked straight ahead as he walked over to the wall and ran his fingers along something. "What are you doing?" Kyle asked as Luka looked back at him. "It's an elevator." Luka spoke. "How do you know that?" Kyle asked as Luka turned and looked at him. "I'm getting some memories back. They had me killed. Shot me in the stomach, I flew back into the elevator, and they dropped it. I remember waking at my Papa's building in Maryland, recovering." He spoke.
"What happened to get that way?" Kyle asked. "After the ship was destroyed when I worked for Nocturnal. I didn't go home. I came here." Luka stated as the door dinged and opened in front of him. The two men looked at the elevator in front of them. "Well, too late now. They know we are here." Kyle stated as he walked into the elevator. "You're going to get us killed!" Luka stated as Kyle shrugged. "At least we had an adventure, and I got some pussy!" Kyle stated as he put his thumbs up. Luka smirked as he got into the elevator. The men stood as the elevator went down. It slowed to a stop as the doors opened to a large underground science facility.
The two men looked around and to each other as a well-suited man came up to them. He looked younger then both as he walked up. "Luka, you are alive!" He spoke as he gazed upon him in fascination. "Very." Luka admitted as he walked and looked around the area. "I haven't seen or heard anything since Dr. Malcolmson found you. I didn't realize you survived." The man stated. "They must have put you through an extensive amount of ECT." The man added. He kept looking at Luka in fascination. "I cannot believe you are standing here. You look so different, but the same." He said in excitement, biting his knuckle. "Hi, yes! Confused as hell here." Kyle stated. "Oh!" The young man spoke. "I'm Dr. Edik Frost. I work for Dr. Malcolmson. Not on the greatest of terms anymore. You really don't remember, do you?" Dr. Frost asked as Luka shook his head. "Not enough pieces are coming together." Luka admitted. "How did you find us then?" Dr. Frost asked. "Enough pieces came back for that." Luka admitted.
