"I was expecting to see you soon but not like this soon." You tell the older man in front of you. You were happy to see a familiar face after all these years. You all were sitting inside the restaurant you were in a while ago.

He smiles softly. "You've grown a lot compared to the last time I saw you."

You giggled. He turned to Alhaitham, "You've also grown. Still, the quiet kid who likes to keep his nose buried in books?"

Alhaitham frowns. "I don't mean to sound rude, but do I know you?"

Pierro shook his head. "No, but I do."

Alhaitham raised a brow while you had a confused look on your face. Pierro cleared his throat before speaking. "Well, your parents told me about you years ago. I've seen you in person a few times when you were younger, however, you were always reading."

Your eyes widened slightly, "You also know Haitham's parents?"

The older man nodded. "Your parents along with his were quite close with me back then. After the accident..." His voice trailed off.

You forced a smile. "It's okay, Uncle informed us ahead of time."

You saw an irk mark form on his face as well as an annoyed expression. "That guy never stopped telling stories about others."

Pierro took a deep breath to compose himself and then turned to you. "Well, how is your father doing?"

"His work is his new partner now. He spends so much time working." You joked. It didn't really seem like a joke since you said it with a straight face.

A small laugh escaped the older man's lips while Alhaitham didn't look amused at all. "Ah, he never changed. Don't take it to heart, that's his way of coping."

"I'm not. I was just joking about it. He's trying to spend more time on us now, though. Also, a way of coping?"

Even Alhaitham seemed interested in your question. Pierro nodded. "I've known your father before I met your mother. He would like to occupy himself most of the time to stay distracted from anything else."
