Despite the sound of thunder ringing through your ears, you continued to dig deeper, a continuous feeling that you were getting closer, you just needed to unlock your mother's second phone.
With shaky hands, you press a button on the side of the phone. The screen lit up, making your heart run a few paces faster.
You saw your family photo on the lock screen, it made you saddened a little. You try to brush the emotion off. You swipe up, and a passcode password appears.
A groan escapes from your lips. 'The password must be somewhere.'
Your hands reached out for the small journal, fingers flipping each page, eyes examining every number, however, you didn't find anything.
You couldn't recklessly try to crack the passcode, there were limited attempts. Your eyes glance at your phone before your hands grab it. You impatiently scroll through your contacts, stopping at your uncle's.
After a few rings, he picks up. "Hello? Why are you calling in the middle of the night?"
You place your phone near your ear, "Uncle, I think I found Mom's work phone."
There was a moment of brief silence before, "WHAT?!"
You pull your phone away from your ears, brows furrowing at the sudden yell. "What do you mean you found it?! How?! Where?!"
You let out a small sigh, moving your phone near your ear again. "Uncle, I found it in the box Mom was supposed to give me on my 18th birthday."
"Oh, I remember that. She never told me what was inside. I can't believe her work phone was there the entire time!"
"I can't open it," You glanced at the other phone.
"I know the passcode. It's your parents' anniversary." You heard a yawn escaping from your uncle's lips.
