Part 2

--

The next weekend, Y/N was once again at St. Claire’s Academy, looking forward to heading home. As she waited outside the school gates, she found herself chatting with Ethan again. They laughed and talked about their classes and upcoming school events.

Unbeknownst to Y/N, Nick, Chris, and Matt had arrived early to pick her up. As they approached, Matt immediately noticed Y/N and Ethan deep in conversation. The same pang of jealousy from the previous week hit him, and Chris and Nick, ever observant, noticed it right away.

"Here we go again," Chris muttered to Nick, nudging him with his elbow.

Nick grinned. "Round two. Let’s see if Matt can keep it together this time."

They walked over, and Chris cleared his throat loudly, just as he had done before. Y/N and Ethan looked up, surprised to see the triplets.

"Hey, guys!" Y/N called out, waving. "You’re early!"

"Yeah, thought we’d surprise you again," Nick said, smiling. "Looks like we’re becoming regulars here."

Y/N laughed. "This is Ethan, again. Ethan, you remember Nick, Chris, and Matt."

Ethan smiled and nodded. "Hey, nice to see you guys again."

Matt forced another smile, trying to hide his jealousy. "Hey, Ethan."

Chris, never one to miss an opportunity, decided to stir the pot a little. "So, Ethan, what were you two talking about this time? Another science project?"

Ethan chuckled. "No, just about the school dance coming up. I was thinking of asking Y/N if she wanted to go."

Matt’s eyes widened slightly, and he looked at Y/N, who seemed equally surprised. "Oh, um, I hadn’t really thought about the dance," Y/N said, feeling a bit awkward.

Nick and Chris exchanged amused glances. "A dance, huh? Sounds like fun," Nick said, glancing at Matt, whose expression had turned even more strained.

"Yeah, it should be," Ethan said, oblivious to the undercurrents. "So, Y/N, what do you think?"

Y/N hesitated, looking from Ethan to the triplets. "I’m not sure yet, Ethan. I’ll have to think about it."

Ethan nodded, looking a bit disappointed but understanding. "Sure, no problem. Let me know if you decide to go."

With that, he said goodbye and headed off. As soon as he was out of earshot, Chris turned to Matt with a teasing grin. "Well, well, looks like Ethan’s got some competition."

Nick laughed. "Yeah, Matt, you better step up your game."

Y/N, sensing the tension, looked at Matt sympathetically. "Matt, are you okay?"

Matt sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I’m fine. Just… I don’t know, I guess I am a bit jealous. It’s silly, but I can’t help it."
