"I still can't believe I agreed to this," I say with a disgusted sneer on my lips as I observe the muggles walking by. Lily somehow managed to convince me to go out into the muggle world for some ice cream in a mall close to her family home.

"I know. My persuasion skills are that of a god," Lily says and takes a bite of her ice cream. I personally haven't touched mine, not daring to. Who knows what these muggles put in the ice cream.

"On a scale of Remus to James, how arrogant did I just sound?" Lily asks.

"Sirius," I immediately reply.

"Really, that bad?" Lily asks and I nod a small smile on her face.

"Lily, as much as I enjoy your company, I do wonder why you dragged me here? You do know that Diagon Alley also has ice cream?" I ask.

"Yes, I know. It's just I wanted to formally invite you to mine and James' wedding," Lily starts.

"I had already assumed that I had an invite," I say, Lily laughs but she seems a little nervous.

"Yes, of course you did, but I wanted to ask you if you would consider being my maid of honour?" Lily says.

"Maid of honour?" I repeat my tone of questioning.

"Sirius said you knew what that was, its-"
"I do!" I cut her off quickly. I know what a maid of honour her request just surprised me. Before I can continue Lily bursts out laughing.

"What?" I ask my own face locked in a wide smile.

"It's just the words, 'I do' are well wedding words," Lily points out.

"True," I say laughing lightly.

"But are you sure you want to be your maid of honour, you know, your Pureblood supremacist friend?" I ask carefully. I know that my views are seen as ridiculous by most of the wizarding world but I fully believe in them.

"Ella, I know that our friendship might be strange to everyone, but we work," Lily says and I nod along agreeing. In some ways I'm thankful for Lily for had it not been for her and our friendship I don't think I'd ever have given Dorcas or Marlene a chance.

"I wouldn't want anyone else being my maid of honour on my wedding day," Lily says.

"Then yes I'd gladly be right by your side as your maid of honour," I say and reach across the small table we're sitting on and take her hand in mine, squeezing it lightly.

"Thank you," Lily says, smiling at me brightly.

"When is the wedding?" I ask and Lily takes a deep breath before answering.

"Onhalloween," she rushes out. It takes me a few seconds to process her answer and when it clicks I stand up causing my chair to fall to the floor with the sudden movement.

"That in SIX DAYS!" I scream causing multiple muggles to cast us weird looks but a glare from me has them mind their own business again.

"I know, Sirius mentioned that you might be surprised by that fact," Lily says, wincing slightly.

"Surprised?! I am more than surprised I only have a few days to plan everything," I stress but sit back down so I don't cause a scene.

"It will all be fine, just breathe," she says and I do so taking multiple deep breaths.
