The silence in the car was heavy, a palpable tension filling the space between East and Lia as they drove to the family charity event. Lia stared out the window, her reflection a blur against the nightscape, while East was in deep thought.
"Babe, you've been quiet all night. Is everything okay?" Lia asked softly, breaking the silence. Her voice was a gentle probe, but East had been on edge recently, his mood shifting from frustration to anger with alarming speed. He hadn't meant to take it out on her, but the stress of his father's demands and the looming danger was taking its toll.
"I'm sorry," East said, his voice strained. "I just have a lot on my plate right now, and I need you to trust me, okay?"
Lia turned to him, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I'm your wife. You're supposed to talk to me. I feel like everybody just keeps me in the dark. You're supposed to trust me." Her voice trembled, and she fought to keep her tears from ruining her makeup.

"Hey, my babies, you're glowing and looking beautiful, Lia," Evelyn said warmly, enveloping them both in a hug.
"Thank you, you look lovely, Mrs. Luke," Lia responded, her smile polite but strained.
As they made their way to their seats, they joined Mariah and Tory at a round table adorned with elegant centerpieces. Lia's attention was caught by a familiar face across the room. "Babe, I think my doctor is here. I didn't know he was invited," she whispered to East
