"I call it magic when I'm with you.
And if you were to ask me after all that we've been through
'Still believe in magic?'
Yes, I do."🎧 Recommended song for this chapter: Magic - Coldplay (I listened to the linked 1-hour loop version while writing for the cozy vibe <3)

December 24th, 1891
As winter break arrived at Hogwarts, Christmas Eve brought a peaceful stillness. Most students had gone home to reunite with their families, and just a few of us stayed at the school. Sebastian had invited Ominis and me to celebrate with him and Anne, who had just returned from France for the holidays.
It had been a while since I last was at their house in Feldcroft. Sebastian had done an amazing job refurbishing the place, not only making room for living space by the fireplace but also building a full kitchen and replacing the small beds with a reasonable-sized mattress and a bunk bed behind the curtains.
I assumed that it had all been done without magic - that would explain how he got those muscles...
We were holding our little gathering early in the afternoon. The cloudy skies cast a soft, diffused light through the windows of their house, illuminating the festive decorations adorning the walls. The crackling fire in the hearth added to the inviting ambience, filling the air with comforting warmth.
"The cookies are ready!" Anne exclaimed excitedly as she opened the oven, filling the house with the gingerbread smell.
I was leaning by the sink near her, still absorbing the fact that she was healthy and as alive as I had never seen before. Her face regained colour, and there was no sign of the red hue under her eyes.
"Ouch! These are hot!" She rushedly placed the tray on the countertop.
Sebastian cut between us, stretching his arm to grab a cookie. "Excuse me, ladies."
Ominis spoke out from the other side of the kitchen. "Sebastian, you have to wait-"
"Ouch! I think I burned my mouth!" He huffed with his mouth open.
Ominis rolled his eyes. Anne and Sebastian laughed loudly.
The twins looked so much alike, I realised - not only due to their freckled, soft faces but also because of the playful energy they carried.
The curse had taken a huge toll on both of them, but those memories from the 5th year felt like a distant past. At that moment, they were just happy.
I cackled along. "It is just so good to see you, Anne. I know I am repeating myself from the time I arrived, but I really mean it. How are you feeling?"
