The Great Hall looked even more majestic than I remembered.

The hundreds of candles floating midair, the formidable architecture, and finally yet importantly, the lively atmosphere with hundreds of returning students reuniting for a new school year, mixed with packs of new ones arriving for the first time.

I accompanied Ominis up to the Slytherin table, our arms linked as I assisted him through the shuffle of people coming and going from all possible directions. Once there, I noticed that Sebastian Sallow had not arrived yet.

"Ominis!"

Making his way towards us, there was an insanely tall Slytherin with black, lustful, wavy and just a tad messy hair, matching his full eyebrows and dark chestnut eyes. A set of faint dark circles beneath his eyes only did him a favour in making him nothing less than attractive. The loosened green and silver tie looked intentional, yet effortless. Finally, the one thing that made him almost intimidatingly handsome, was his dazzling and bright smile.

I felt Ominis' arm stiffen under mine.

"Phineas," he coughed, "I see you have arrived." Ominis extended his arm for a handshake, only for the other boy to take his hand and pull him into an energetic hug.

Once released from the embrace, Ominis took my side again. "Phineas, this is my good friend Carolyn Morgan who I told you about."

"Black. Phineas Black, delighted to meet you, Miss Morgan." As if his other features weren't enough, the one thing that made him almost intimidatingly handsome was his dazzling and bright smile.

"Yes! Ominis told me about you..." I offered my hand to greet him.

"Apologies, I am a hugger," He embraced me tightly as if we had been friends for ages.

He released me and grinned. "So Ominis told you about me, huh? Only great things, I hope."

For the little I had seen of his warm eyes and easy laughter, one could never tell that the headmaster and he were related. Phineas' presence was magnetic.

"He did," I giggled involuntarily, then cleared my throat. "I really hope we have the chance to get to know each other better this year."

"Well indeed, Miss Morgan, I look forward to it!" Phineas tenderly smiled, and I was not surprised at myself for unintentionally blushing.

I then made my way to the Gryffindor table, overwhelmed by the crowding groups and excited yells coming from all sides.

I finally reached my house's table and took my seat between Natty and Nellie Oggspire, facing forward to the tables of the other houses. Sitting across from me were Leander Prewett and Garreth Weasley.

I was thrilled to see their faces once again, hoping that this year I could cultivate deeper friendships with everyone.

"Now, Morgan, forgive me when I say that I am actually surprised that you will move forward to 6th year with our class. You know, given that you were more often skipping classes than studying," Leander said in a mocking tone.
