Carolyn Morgan's POV
June 21st, 1892
To celebrate the summer solstice, the Gaunt family was hosting a Litha soiree at their Manor.
I had chosen to wear the sophisticated dark green silk dress that Lady Guinevere gifted me. I stood before the full-length mirror in my dormitory, taking one last look, running my hands through the smooth fabric.
Unlike anything I was used to wearing, the off-shoulder bodice fit snuggly on my body. Looking at my reflection, I also realised I had never worn green before. But I liked it.
Although I felt beautiful, my heart sank knowing that Ominis would never see how well the colours of his house fit me.
Natty was there earlier when I was getting ready. She blabbered on and on about how I hadn't been myself in a while. That I had to be careful around Ominis, warning me that I would get hurt. All of the same nonsense she had been repeating for several months.
I heard every single word she said but pretended I didn't. I felt bad for being so rude to her, but at least she left me alone.
That was the night.
I felt it in my bones.
Once I arrived in the Undercroft, Ominis was already waiting for me. Sebastian was there, too.
"Carolyn..." Sebastian said, darting his eyes up and down. "You... Green... I've never seen you in green. Not that it looks bad, in fact, it... wow."
But I paid no mind to him. Ominis looked absolutely, insanely perfect.
"Sebastian, stop drooling, it is embarrassing," Ominis interjected. "Carolyn, dear, you must look fantastic no matter the colour. Now, we should get going."
My heart melted in my chest. "Ominis... thank you. I'm actually wearing the dress your grandmother gifted me. I feel like... A Gaunt."
His body tensed and he stuttered. "Well, I... Yes, my grandmother has a refined taste. I am positive that you look stunning. Are the two of you ready?"
Sebastian positioned himself between Ominis and me, taking our hands in his to apparate. His felt way too strong, and I noticed his nostrils flaring. "Ready," I replied.
POF.
The first thing I felt once we arrived at the iron gates of the manor was the drizzling rain, leading us to pick up the pace fast enough to get to the door.
The second thing I felt was... comfortable.
I had been visiting Guinevere every other week, and I loved that place.
