A horn blares as a double-decker bus careens within inches of Cayden, Harry, Ron and Hermione as they stumble, the streets teeming with drunken pub crawlers.
"Where are we?" Ron questioned, looking around.
"Shaftesbury Avenue. I used to come here to the theater with my mum and dad. Just popped into my head. I don't know why..." Hermione answered, walking somewhere.
They hurry on, glancing over their shoulders at the dark shapes that move within the crowd behind them, strangers bumping by, faces passing in a paranoiac blur: a drunken man, a cackling woman with blood-red lipstick.
"This way!" Hermione led them to an alleyway, taking refuge in the shadows. She instantly begins to rummage through her tiny beaded purse. "We need to change."
Ron and Harry look at each other's dress robes. From the purse, Hermione extracts three pairs of jeans, T-shirts, and a pair of light overcoats.
"How the ruddy--"
"Undetectable Extension Charm." Hermione said before Ron could finish his sentences.
"You're amazing, you are." Ron said, looking at Hermione with awe.
"Always the tone of surprise." Hermione said, and as she gives the bag a shake, there is loud echoing of heavy objects, as if something has fallen. "That'll be the books." She said when they all look at her questioningly.

The four slides into a booth in a cafe.
"Do you reckon everyone's alright at the wedding? Maybe we should--"
"They were after both of you, mate. We'd just put everyone in danger going back." Ron said, cutting Harry's words off.
"Ron's right. Cappuccino, please." Hermione said to the gum-chewing waitress standing behind Cayden and Harry.
Ron, clueless when it comes to cappuccinos, nods to Hermione. "What she said."
"Same." Harry said.
"I'll have a black coffee, please." Cayden answered, leaning back against the booth.
"Wicked scar." The waitress said to Harry before leaving.
"So where do we go from here? The Leaky Cauldron?" Ron asked.
"Too dangerous. If Voldemort has taken over the Ministry, none of the old places are safe." Cayden said, looking at the front door when it squeals and two workmen enter, glancing at them as they step to the counter. He keeps watch of them, looking at the small security mirror near the ceiling.
"My rucksack. With all my things. I left it back at the Burrow--" Harry cut himself short when Hermione shook her head. He eyes the beaded purse. "You're joking."
"I've had the essentials packed for days. Just in case." Hermione said, shrugging.
"By the way -- these jeans? Not my favorite. But tight." Ron said.
Hermione gives him a withering glance, almost flinching when Cayden suddenly shouts 'DOWN!' at them.
The tile explodes on the wall where Ron's head had been only seconds before. A rope of green light singes Hermione's hair.
