Hanni
Minji held me close to her as we both watched my father making his way to us, we were outside at the doctor's parking lot.
"I'll be here by your side, love. I'll protect you if anything happens." Minji whispered as she gave my waist a slight squeeze. I leaned in to her for a moment, needing her comfort.
"Hanni! I'm so happy to see you, dear." My father said as he made his way to me with his arms extended. Minji let go of me briefly as my father wrapped his arms around me.
I wanted to cry, I missed him so much.
"I missed you so much, it was so hard to get your mother off my back." He said, seeming exhausted. And then he looked over at Minji. He gave her a smile as he reached out for her hand. "Hello, Minji." He said as Minji took his hand in for a firm shake.
"Good to see you, Mr. Pham." Minji said and my father shook his head at her. "Call me, John." I felt my jaw drop. This was going better than expected already.
My father has always been more understanding, even though at first it takes him some time to come to terms with things.
Minji turned to look at me as she let go of my father's hand. She leaned in to me and gave my temple a kiss, her hand reaching out to rub my belly.
"I'll see you inside, you both need to catch up." Minji said turning to look at my father, giving him a nod. Minji turned back to me and leaned in to give my cheek a kiss. I giggled at the feeling and she let out a chuckle.
Her arms wrapped around me briefly, reluctant on leaving me alone and being away from me. I turned over and cupped her cheek, leaning in to press my lips against hers, letting her know that I'd be fine.
For a moment I forgot my father was there, when I pulled away, he stood there looking at us with a smile. Minji let me go and with one last look at both me and my father she walked away, a part of me wanting for her to stay by my side. I hated being away from her.
"She makes you happy, doesn't she?" My dad asked as he came closer to me and brought me in to another hug. "She makes me very happy." I said as I pulled away from him.
"It took me some time to realize that it doesn't matter who you're with, the only thing that matters is that they make you happy." He said, I could see a glint of regret in his eyes.
"I wish your mother understood that, I had to lie to her to be here. I love your mother, Hanni. I wouldn't want to leave her alone, or risk her kicking me out of the house." He said, his shoulders were slumped as he spoke.
"Maybe walking away wasn't the right choice, but it's made me the happiest woman alive, dad. I love my mother, I really do, but I won't let her hold me back anymore. I've found the love of my life, the person who was made for me. I wasn't going to let Minji go, she doesn't deserve for me to give up on her ever." I said and my dad gave me an understanding nod.
"You really love her, don't you?" He asked as he wiggled his eyebrows at me which caused me to laugh as I nodded. "I love her very much, she's my everything!" I said and he let out a chuckle but then became serious again.
"She loves you too, right?" I looked at him with disbelief. "Don't even question it! She loves me more than her own life, dad. If you were to spend a whole day with me and Minji, you'd see that I mean the world to her." I said as I looked at him. I never want him to doubt Minji's love for me.
"I wish I could've had a proper talk with Minji, just seeing the way she treats you and the way you talk about her makes me realize that you won't always be my little princess that I have to look after and protect. You're now going to be a mother soon, and I'm very happy for you and Minji." He said giving me a giant smile.
