"We'll get to meet for a few minutes before I leave at night," Jungkook says while you're standing trapped in his arms around you.
"Yeah I hope so that I can get back in time to see you off, work has been pretty crazy since last week," you tell him crossing your fingers.
"I really hate it but it means good things for us and for our family in the future, I'll get promoted after this," he says.
"I know Jungkook. And I am your biggest supporter here," you caress his cheeks.
"And I know it's been an issue of timing and mutual interest and what not... things don't seem to be working in our favour but I promise we'll be getting back really soon. I know it's been a very long time, we haven't touched each other since Jeju it just keeps getting delayed but I'll make it up to you," he says looking deeply in your eyes with a hand on your back.
"It's fine, it's not that big of an issue. We've gotten closer in other ways so it's just one thing among many," you dust his doubts away.
"Well, you'll be late if you stay any longer. So I'll let you go, hope we'll see each other at night before I leave." he kisses your forehead and you kiss his cheek before you leave.
Your worst fear comes true. The timing doesn't aligns with him leaving for work as he had to leave more than an hour early because of traffic. And you got stuck in traffic too after working overtime and came back to an empty house.
In the morning when you wake up he eats dinner and starts to get ready for bed. And you leave for work again not getting much time to spend with him.
Your day started but his just ended and trying to get his body to adapt to this schedule leaves him fatigued.
He's never worked 10 pm to 6am before. That's his bedtime. He's never had a full meal at 7 am that's when he drinks coffee and then goes to the gym.
The schedules don't fit in with each other. A week passes by like this and you keep thinking of things you can try to do.
Another week passes by and you try to do the things that you thought of but none of seem to work.
By the third week, that has become your daily life. Even on the weekends when he gets to be at home, he just sleeps and watches tv.
And your work has been so hectic lately that you can't even get the weekends completely off. You have to work at least part time that too on site. When you have got employees working overtime for you although they're getting paid more and it's totally by their own choice, it doesn't shows your dedication if you're not present yourself for at least part of the time.
You're left disheartened how once again your marriage has become this emotionless, sexless thing you're stuck in.
It feels like all the efforts you two had put in were all in vain. As much as you'd gotten closer, you've drifted apart even more. The connection that had finally sparked between you two has totally died down now.
On a Saturday evening, you come home to Jungkook who has the night off. He has prepared dinner for you, lit up candles in the bedroom. There's jazz playing in the background. The room is lit with warm lights. There's a wine bottle on the dining table.
"Surprise honey," he says in a cheesy tone then laughs.
"Oh well... thank you so much," you keep your bag down then walk around.
He had to do all of this on exactly the same day when you had the worst day at work ever.
You feel so bad. You try to keep it all in but it shows. You just can't hide it.
"Hey. Is something wrong?" You stop when he notices.
You drop the facade and break down in front of him.
"Oh god, what happened?" He hugs you, caresses you, wipes your tears tries to calm you down. He is one part ready to fight whoever is the reason behind all of this.
"My company Jungkook... a huge order got cancelled last minute. We had everything ready to ship. We tried so hard, tried everything that we could but in the end it was cancelled. I don't think we can bear the losses. The past month hasn't been very good in terms of sales. Usually a dip comes around this time of the year. And we have to pay our loan installment by next week. And we assured the investors about this. I think my business will go down. Fuck it, my family's proven right, I failed at it."
He stands quietly in front of you. At a loss for words he keeps his lips shut tight. He has his own ideas but he knows you and your team must've already thought of it. He understands you don't need him to tell you what to do, you have people you pay to tell you that, he needs to stand by your side as your husband, your moral support in this tough time.
"I might have to sell the warehouse and downsize. Maybe we'll have to rent some place away from the main city to get cheaper prices. I'll probably have to go live there because I can't let my company, the work of my blood sweat and tears drown away like this." You sit down on the sofa, lie down listless. Your face and hair disheveled.
You weren't even going to come home. Your employees forced you to while they stayed back. They couldn't see you crying and losing hope. They promised you they'll stand by your side through this whole thing no matter what happens.
"You've done so much for me in the past month. I know it takes a toll on you, my night shift. This is my turn now, do whatever it takes to keep your company running. Don't worry about me or our home. I'll handle it all whatever it takes. If you need to reside somewhere else don't think twice about me. We have a lifetime to ourselves, right now your company needs you."
Jungkook helps you to change and gets you in bed comfortably. He keeps holding you in his arms all night long. Everytime you wake up or turn around, you feel his warmth, his hand caresses your forehead and calms you down again.
This is your benefit. This is all that you needed. A partner that stands by your side when you need it the most. Who delivers exactly what you need at the right time.
