Never Let Me Go - Florence + The Machine (Will use in later chapters... maybe)

The birds are chirping outside and the sun starts cresting over the horizon- bleaching the sky with baby blues and soft pinks. A light rapid knock comes from my door, and my mom walks in with a cheerful smile.

"Good morning sweetie. It's your first last day of school!" Her voice raises with pride. "Get up so you aren't late and come downstairs so I can take a picture of you, also breakfast is ready." She excuses herself out of my room, letting my eyes adjust to the lights she turned on.

The red lights on my clock strobe 5:54am. School starts at 7:30 but I promised Max I'd pick her up for our first day. She'll have to take the bus home since I'll have practice after school.

Slowly I get ready. Going through three different outfits and making sure my hair is just right. Slightly curled with a little poof to it. Makeup light with a quick flick of mascara and a brush of blush. I smooth out my burgundy red skirt, and slip on a Nike pullover that's a soft cream color over my head, then slide on a pair of black vans. Comfortable over being cute. Steve warned that they crank the AC in the classrooms and I'll be freezing. I hope he's right.

Downstairs I see that Mom has made a feast of breakfast. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, French toast, sausage, and a whole bowl of fresh fruit. Steve comes flying down the stairs, blowing past me and almost knocking me over in the process. He has his camera in his hands as he hands in to our mom. Dad is sitting at the head of the table with a peaceful smile.

"Come get some food." Mom waves me over, the curlers in her hair bouncing. She starts fixing me a plate as Steve hands me a cup of coffee and I take the seat next to our father.

"Heather she doesn't need that much food." Dad speaks up, peeking over his newspaper. Mom stops over filling my plate, and sets it in front of me then takes the seat across from me. Steve sits on my right, and we all sit quietly while we eat. I pick at my food. My nerves are bouncing around with some many questions. What if I get lost in the school? Who am I going to eat lunch with?

"Oh. I put a note in your bag. When you get to school go to the office and give it to the ladies up front. It's to excuse you out of school early on Tuesdays and Thursdays to go see Dr. Owens. He decided to move your days around." Mom smiles while she plops a cherry in her mouth.

Before I leave, Mom has me stand by the stairs so she can take her photos. Many of just me by myself then a few with Steve and then some with Dad then some with all of us. Mom then follows me out to my car and takes a few more photos before I finally set off towards Max's.

I roll up just in time to see Susan doing the same thing my mom did to me. Taking too many photos and Max looks very unamused. Her expression is sour until she see's me pulling up.

"Good morning Brook!" Susan yells, her voice chipper. "You ready for school?"

I shake my head, "No. Nervous. But we should get going?" I look to Max whose trying to sneak over to my car.

"Wait-" Susan steps forward in her white blouse and high waisted jeans, "Let me get a few pictures of the both of you."

She has Max and I stand by the wash lines out back, near the single tree they have with a small tire swing. She snaps a few before we are able to get away and make a break for it.

I take a glance over at Eddie's house. Seeing no lights on, and no movement in his bedroom window. I should probably go over and wake him up, but then we will be late for our first day. And I still have to figure out where my classes are.
