Eddie

Well the announcer wasn't wrong. They did look mighty comfortable together. His arm behind her, supporting her and him leaning into her shoulder. Her leaning back into his chest. They look like that couple people write stories about- and I wonder if it's for show or if they just clicked that good.

They haven't met till today if I'm not mistaken.

"You're still on the homecoming committee aren't you?" I ask Jamie whose watching Jason and Chrissy coming up to us now. "I want a ticket."

"A ticket? Why?" He looks at me like I've lost my mind and I probably have.

"He wants to spy on Brook." Garret rolls his eyes.

"I'm down." Jeff agrees, "Let's get Brook back."

Jamie hesitates but agrees after some pushing. "Fine. Homecoming starts in about two hours."

"Plenty of time to get ready." Jeff shrugs. "Let's start heading back now. Is it still at the school?"

Jamie shakes his head, "Yeah. We've been working on the whole set up for the last two weeks." He feels proud of his work which I'm glad he's starting to do some other things then work at the skate rink and play drums. We start to make our way back to my van when all of a sudden we hear music- that's not the speakers in the square.

A familiar guitar riff echoes, it drifting up from in the wind. Everyone with any self sense looks up and see that black dodge charger with the top up now, sitting in the middle of the parking lot. Just idling and music blasting out of the speakers.

My heart drops. The car isn't moving and my mind goes to the worst.

But then I remember Brook can handle herself if something were to happen.

Then what I was somewhat expecting happens, the car starts doing a burnout into a rolling burn out. They race out of the parking lot with tires squealing and hot rubber flying down the pavement.

"She's so lucky." A girl walks past us talking to her friend.

Jeff claps my shoulder, "Time to commence Get Brook Back into action."

Brook

He turns up the music and then he does a small burn out before rolling us out onto the road. A smile spread across my face as I hold on for dear life. He speeds down the road and gets us onto the highway before he settles down.

"Show off." I yell over the music.

He turns it down, then leans back in his seat. His body angled a little towards me. He shifts, then drives with his finger on the light wooden wheel. "Me? Showing off?"

"You were. But I liked it."

"So tell me about you. What's it like being Brooklyn Harrington?" He glances over with those so light blue eyes they're almost grey. I didn't notice before until the sun was in his face and he was inches from my face.

"Only if you tell me what it's like being Carden Ashford." I counter.

"Deal."

Most of the car ride is spent with us talking. Learning more about each other and what drives the other. It almost feels like a real date in a sense. The conversation never dulls, or gets boring. He laughs at my horrible jokes.

"Didn't know you were so stubborn, princess." He says and I should cringe. I really should. It's the cute nickname Eddie always called me- but the way it rolls off his tongue does something to me. Maybe it his lower voice, or the way his eyes observe me or the teasing in his tone. Or maybe it's the way he runs his hand through his hair, it well kept up but looking messy. Thick hair with many layers, it sitting just above his ears.
