Always Smiling

*Author note. I really- really tried keeping most of the music to straight 80's. I 100 percent haven't kept that promise. So now I'm just going for whatever music I'm listening too when writing. So.. Yeah. Here on out will have way newer music.*

Eddie

After the concert.

I didn't see Brook for a few days. I'd see her in passing at school.

Our history teacher paused our projects for the only two days we had in school that week. Thanksgiving was coming up.

Everyone was talking about their plans, looking happy.

I had no plans. My uncle works extra on that day. More pay. I haven't had a real thanksgiving in- I honestly can't remember.

A few times I catch Brook smiling and instead of frowning at me, she keeps smiling at me. A little bit brighter of a smile. I know- we are just friends. Nothing more. She's made that very clear last time. Threatening to use her powers on me. So I backed off.

Thanksgiving day came.

I laid in bed most of the day.

Didn't get till almost noon.

There's no one coming over. No one to entertain.

I spent majority of the day watching tv, or reading.

Or watching the snow melt outside.

Around 4pm I hear a loud car heading this way.

Brook.

I peek out the living room window and see her stop in front of Max's house.

She gets out and she's smiling.

She's always smiling.

She's wearing light colored jeans and an oversized sweater.

It looks like it's two sizes her size.

Max opens the door. Looking confused.

Her red hair is up in a bun and she's in sweats.

"What are you doing here?" Max yells. Thankfully the walls are thin enough to hear.

Brook pops her head out from digging in her back seat. "Bringing you a thanksgiving dinner."

Max walks out her door and down the steps. She throws her arms Brooks waist and pulls her into a hug. They talk for a minute and Brook hands her plate and waves her hand for her to go inside. "I'll be in- in a minute."

Then Brook turns her attention to my house. I slam the blind closed- I hope she didn't see me. She'd probably think I was a creep.

I hear footsteps crunching over the melting snow. They're getting louder. Then there's a knock on my door. Oh fuck. I look down at what I'm wearing. Shit. I'm only in grey sweats and no shirt on. Did I even brush my teeth today?

She sighs loud enough for me to hear, "Eddie open up. I know you're home."

I panic.

Why is she here?

I run around the living room really quick and clean it up, trying to make the place look less messy.

"Open the door. Your van is here." She says again. I can hear getting impatient.

Fuck.

I walk over and open the door. "What are you doing here?" I ask.
