Before the Midnight Heists began...
FELICIA HARDY'S POV:
Ten months. Ten long, restless months since I slipped through the cracks of Beloit Psychiatric Institute, thanks to that Crimson Spider. The chaos of the cross-species virus kept me hidden, kept everyone too distracted to notice one more escapee slinking back into the shadows.
I had to lay low, blending into the city's underbelly, sharpening my skills, and waiting for the right moment to resurface. I watched from the rooftops as the virus turned the streets into a warzone, a predator's playground. But even the most chaotic storm eventually passes, leaving behind a changed landscape, ripe for the taking.
The city has changed in these months, but so have I. I've honed my senses to a razor's edge, every instinct screaming for action. The city's rhythm is in my blood, its heartbeat my own. I'm ready to prowl once more, to reclaim my place in the night. Every lock, every vault, every guarded secret is just waiting for my touch.
But something else has changed in these months. Or rather, someone. The Spider-Men, they've become an obsession of mine, especially him... I don't know who he is, but I can't stop thinking about him. His movements, his determination, his uncanny ability to be everywhere at once. He's more than just a hero—he's a puzzle, a challenge. And I've always loved a good challenge.
Every night, I imagine our future encounters in my mind. The way he moves, the way he fights. There's a raw energy about him, a mix of power and vulnerability that I can't resist. He's so unlike anyone else in this city. While the rest of the world sees him as a hero, I see something more—a kindred spirit, someone who's also dancing on the edge of society's rules.
The other spiders are fascinating in their own right, but it's him that captivates me. There's something about him that calls to me, that makes me want to get closer, to understand what makes him tick. It's not just about the thrill of the chase anymore; it's about something deeper, something I can't quite put my finger on.
And yet, I owe the other one for my freedom. That Crimson Spider gave me a second chance. I won't be in anyone's debt for long. I'm not just back—I'm better, sharper, and hungrier than ever. My luck is turning, and it's time for the Black Cat to make her mark once more.
I've spent these months preparing, watching, learning. The city's dark corners have become my training ground, every shadow a test of my newfound skills. I've become a ghost, slipping in and out of places unnoticed, my claws leaving only the faintest trace of my presence.
The prowl begins now. The Spider-Men won't know what hit them. And maybe, just maybe, I'll finally get the answers I'm looking for. It's time to remind this city why the Black Cat is more than just a myth whispered among criminals. This time, I'm playing for keeps.
