Another year went by for everyone, now the once kids were now considered teens when they got into their freshman High School year. Of course, not just that changed but everything, everyone, everyone knows it, nothing lasts forever, and Jay knew that, even though he wished things to stay the same...

Let's start with something slightly good, remember that time Jay's parents told him a big "No." when they talk about a car? Well, they bought him one when he turned 16 exactly, a brand new BMW 635CSI. I mean, what teen couldn't love that? Jay was popular and heir to the crown of Hawkins High, not even Steve could compare to Jay's popularity, he came from a wealthy family, good looks, and of course, who's a King without a Queen?... Yeah, we are kinda slipping off with that part.

Around December Max cut her relationship with Jay with no remorse, no bye, no explanation, no nothing, just that. Of course, Jay was confused by this, why? Why she broke up with him? Did he do something wrong? Was he a bad boyfriend? Didn't he give enough to the relationship? Was he even enough for her? A lot of question were on the mind of Jay but with no response. He clearly cried and sobbed his little heart out one day he was completely alone, only the four walls of his room and pillow could tell the break down he had just by Max, and don't blame him! He loved her madly and will always will, like, so in love to start imagining a future with her, so it was understandable. He tried to look for Max, for any answers to his questions, ultimately being shut down by his now ex-girlfriend at the slightest attempt to get closer, although she have mix signals... Like, sometimes when standing together, or sitting side by side in class, their hands brushed and even holded.

But enough about Max, what about his family and friends? They were all right, he didn't speak as usual to his friends due his popular status, plus, he enjoyed his solitude, but there was a person he talked the most, Olivia Cunningham, she was also a junior and younger sister of Chrissy Cunningham. The two quickly clicked together, two different personalities that somehow complemented each other, but of course, this bothered certain red haired girl that could only stare at two from the afar. And what about his parents? He just changed a little bit, the once movie nights turned to "business" ones, he was already starting to get into the real state business but his parents were a bit concerned for this, the once playful and sarcastic Jay definitely turned more cold and calculated than everyone, it was starting to become a carbon copy from both of his parents, just a bit more emotionless, and that was what worried them, he was growing a lack of emphaty for other people that weren't close to him.

So yep, that's how 1986 received Jay, with a break up, a new best friend... But hey, at least nothing was turning Upside Down again... Was it?
