Friday, March 21 on the Maldonado residence.
As always, we start in the morning. The Maldonado family were having a quiet breakfast before each one went to to their usual routine, Jay going to school and his parents to work, or at least that's what he thought.
Elizabeth and Arthur shared a look and then glanced at their son who was dead silent while reading a few brochures of some universities, although they felt happy because Jay was already starting to take responsibilities like he's adult, sometimes even taking the real state businesses himself, but they did missed that smiling Jay and sarcastic boy he once was, but it's not like they could do something without triggering a short or cold response from the teenager.
Arthur ran a hand through his hair and cleared his throat, gaining the attention of Jay who looked at him, "Hayden, me and your mother wanted to tell you something."
"And that is?"
Elizabeth sighed and shook her head softly, "We are going to a business trip, a conference in Alaska for the entire spring break, I know it may seem surprising for you but–"
"It's okay." Jay cut off his mother, giving his parents a small nod, "I know how to handle my own while being alone, or if you still don't feel secure enough, I could just ask aunt Karen to let me stay at hers. Just take care and..." he trailed off as he noticed the hour onhis watch, he sighed softly and stood up from the chair, "I need to pick up Olivia, it's getting late. Love you mom, dad, see you in a week."
And with that, Jay gathered his things and car keys before walking out of the house. Elizabeth and Arthur could only just sigh and say nothing at the antics of their only son.
I'm Not In Love by 10cc was echoing softly on Jay's car, on the driver side is Jay driving with a neutral face, but this song was reached deep inside of him, like this song it's made for him, because it reminds him of her, that he should forget her, but he'll never be able to.
On the other side, Olivia was fixing her hair and makeup with help of a mirror, she let out a small groan as she applied a little more of lipstick, her eyes slowly drifted towards the taller boy at her left, "Do you think I look fat in this dress? It's just- ugh! My mom is killing me with her stupid comments, I don't know how Chrissy can handle her." she complained with an eyeroll, then she adjusted her skirt and jacket.
Jay sighed and looked at her before focusing on the road again, "You shouldn't care what your mother or what I think about your body, or how you look with this or that, as long as you feel comfortable in what you are wearing. A opinion shouldn't shake your mind, besides, the dress looks good with you." he simply said, adding a small shrug at the end.
Olivia's heart beated a bit faster than usual, a smile tugged her lips as she leaned closer to him and placed a chaste kiss on his right cheek as thank you, leaving a lipstick mark on his skin.
