The next day after that horrific scare of Max almost dying by Vecna, everyone went to sleep at the Wheeler's this time, of course Jay was glued to hip to Max, not wanting anything to happen her, everyone actually took turns to look out for her all the night, but Jay was the only that stayed awake all the night, not wanting to get his eyes off Max, which she was grateful, she also couldn't sleep so the two ¿lovers? stayed all the night talking and sharing some quiet laughs.
Currently the two were on the kitchen of the Wheelers, Max was drawings something with the crayons of Holly while Jay was playing with Holly, but still keeping an eye on her.
"Morning guys." greeted a happy Karen, Jay turned to look at his aunt and spotted Nancy and Dustin who were looking at him and most specifically, Max, "Everything okay?" Karen asked as she walked to her daughter, she had a stove with a pancake on her hand.
"Yeah. Yeah, everything's okay." Nancy replied relieved as she looked at Jay who smiled tiredly.
"It's okay, I was with her all night." he whispered as Max finally turned to look at them.
"I think it's so sweet that you guys are sticking together like this." Karen affected with a smile as she served some pancakes to Ted.
"Could try sticking together at that big house of yours for a change, Herbert." commented Ted from his seat as he read the newspaper, Karen sent a glare to her husband while Jay scoffed softly.
"Just because you have a mouth it doesn't mean you can always talk, Theodore." Jay replied, making sure to say his uncle's full name with sass. This gained a small chuckle from Max and Dustin, a glare from Ted, a look from Nancy and a small giggle from Karen, secretly grateful that somebody finally did that.
"Watch your tone with me-"
"It's okay, Hayden. You know you're always welcome anytime." dismissed Karen as she took the pancakes from Ted and served them to Jay.
Nancy sighed in mild amusement as she walked to Max and Jay.
"Hey." greeted Max softly as she took her headphones off and looked at Nancy.
"Hey." Nancy greeted back and then she looked down at the drawings of Max then back at her, "You okay?"
"Just couldn't sleep. People kept blasting music in my ears for some reason." she said with a sarcastic tone and a little smirk, gaining small chuckles from the two cousins, "But Jay stayed with me all night, and Holly let me borrow some of her crayons. We've been having a fun morning, right, Holly?" asked Max with a smile.
"Mm-hmm." that's all that said Holly as she showed something of her lite-brite to Jay, a wide smile on her face as she did, "It's you."
"Wonderful mornings." added Jay with a smirk, sighing softly and placing a piece of the lite-brite in other place, Max just watched at the two with a smile, imagining things she probably shouldn't be picturing in that moment, but not caring at all.
Nancy however was focused at Max's draws that were some weird pieces, on a red background, and there was a page where two bodies were melted into two pillars. "Is this what you saw last night?" Nancy asked as Max finally looked away from Jay and Holly, nodding.
"I mean, it's supposed to be. I thought it'd be easier to draw it out than explain it, but... Not so much." she replied with a small sigh as Jay shook his head.
"It's some good draws, okay? Plus, it's normal that your mind want to close such those type of experiences." reassured Jay because Max was all morning, repeating and repeating that her draws were awful.
"Is that...?" Nancy trailed off as she grabbed the draw of the two people on the pillars.
"It was like they were on display or something. And then there was this red fog everywhere. It was like a dream, a nightmare." Max explained as Nancy, Jay and Dustin nodded.
