A few rays of sun filtered through Jay's curtains, slowly waking up the teen who groaned softly and opened his eyes, this summer break was definitely gonna one of the most borings on his life, no one was there, not his parents nor friends, just him and his usual activities, well, at least he had Steve, Robin and maybe Olivia. He ran a hand through his long curls before getting out from bed, then he headed towards his bathroom and did his normal routine, he took a quick shower, did his Fabergé and Farrah Fawcett hair routine, brushed his teeth, put on some fresh clothes and he was ready for work.
He got out of his room and walked downstairs, most specifically to the kitchen, he just grabbed a banana and granola bar and he was finally ready to head out, he grabbed his car keys and finally walked out of his house, of course, putting lock, he may live on Hawkins' most wealthy neighborhood, but no one never knows what could happen.
He walked a few feet and got inside his car, then he turned the car on also making the radio turn on as well, and much to his misfortune, 'Running Up That Hill' blared from the stereo from the car, God, that song reminded him of Max, he could never get that red haired girl out of his mind.
He bit his lip before sighing softly, increasing the volume of the stereo before he drove away from his house, humming part of the song.
After around 10 minutes on the road, he parked his car outside Family Video Store and got inside the store, spotting Steve who was placing some VHS' on the shelves while Robin was rambling about a girl she liked, wait- Jay knew that Robin's lesbian? Yup, she rambled about once and she was glad to know that Jay didn't see her as a type of freak, and why would he? His own cousin Will was gay...
"Morning." greeted Jay, Steve just send a nod while Robin walked to him and dragged him with them.
"Finally! I need to tell you something about Vicki, it's just- Ugh! It was so amazing." she started while handing a pile of VHS to Jay, "I told Vicki about that Tammy sounded like a Muppet, and then she laughed. And it wasn't like a cheap, fake laugh either. It was like... It was a real, genuine laugh." she explained as Jay and Steve nodded.
"So I wasn't the only one who thought she sounded like Miss Piggy? Glad to know."
"Right!? That's why you're better than Steve!" said Robin with a smile as she ruffled Jay's long curls that she envied so much.
Steve rolled his head and continued his work, "Of course. It's my Muppet joke. It's hilarious." Steve stated with a matter-of-fact tone as he moved to other shelves, Jay and Robin followed him.
"My point is that Vicki laughed and everything was just like–"
"Perfect?" interjected Jay as Robin nodded in agreement, 'When Max laughs is per- Stop, Hayden!' he mentality scolded himself as he shook his head.
"But?" asked Steve, knowing that there's always a 'but' when Robin speaks about her crush situation.
Robin nodded as she followed Steve and Jay who were placing more VHS and adjusting some stuff in the store, "But I'm having this problem where it's like, I should stop talking. I have said everything I need to say. But then I guess I get nervous, and then words keep spilling out, and it's like my brain is moving faster than my mouth, or-or rather my-my mouth is moving faster than my brain. And it's like I'm digging a hole for myself, and I want to stop digging, I'm trying to stop but I can't! And I'm doing it right now, aren't I?" she finally finished, turning to look at the two boys who were just looking at her with a raised eyebrows.
