It happens all the time by Tyler Shaw
Noel's POV
"I think I have feelings for you."
My breath hitched on my throat and my mouth gaped open. He can't be serious.
"I-I mean-" Nolan said, but before he could say anything else, I hung up.
I sighed and ran a hand through my face. No. What he said was not true. It can't be. I don't want it to be.
I can't imagine how broken Jazz will be if I told her. Or her reaction towards me, she would hate me. I can't tell her.
Thoughts started to spin inside my head. I never thought that my life could be any worse.

It was two days later around 5PM when I got a text from Jazz, saying that I should come over to her house.
I looked down at the fresh cuts on my wrist. I sigh and racked my closet for something to cover it up. I settled down on a nude colored sweater.
I got a ride from Grandparents , since they were going to the grocery shop anyway. "Thanks." I said as the car stopped in front of the Brown's household.
"Do you need me to pick you up after?" Gramps asked, looking back at me from the driver's seat.
I shook my head. "It's fine."
I hoped off the car and waved goodbye. Hugging my arms, I made my way to the front door. I lifted up my hand and knocked three times. I waited a couple of seconds until the wooden door flung open.
To my surprise, Nat opened the door. He was wearing a white t-shirt and sweatpants. He looked very pale, like he was ill and he had dark circles under his eyes.
We looked at each other for a moment before he stepped aside, giving me enough space to walk in. "She's in her room." He said, with no sign of emotion.
That was the first time he talked to me in more than a month.
"Um.. thanks." I said before I awkwardly entered and walked up the stairs into Jazz's room. I've been here a fair amount of time to know where Jazz's room is.
I stop in front of her door. I could hear sniffing from where I was standing. I opened the door, relieved that it wasn't locked.
I was quite used to see Jazz's room. What I was not used to see was Jazz crying into one of her pillows. She was sitting in the middle of her bed, hugging her legs and her face was buried on the pillow that was placed on her knees.
"Hey." I said, sitting on the spot beside her, wrapping a hand around her shoulders. "What happened?"
She started crying more hysterically whist trying to say something.
"Jazz. Calm down." I said, rubbing her back calmingly. "Deep breaths, Jazz, deep breaths."
Jazz looked up, still heavily breathing and tears are still flowing through her eyes. She looked like a mess–mascara on her cheeks, puffy eyes and red nose.
It hurts me to see her like that, since she used to be all rainbows and unicorn.
"N-Nolan." She said shakily after taking a couple of deep breaths.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "What's wrong?"
She handed me her gold colored iPhone before bursting into tears. I pulled her into a hug and rubbed her back soothingly. "It's okay." I whispered.
