Life in Mystic Falls was always a challenge, whether you were clued into its supernatural secrets or not. At sixteen, I was Caroline's younger sister, forever stuck in a strange limbo at seventeen. We used to be inseparable, Elena and the Scooby gang were my ride or dies, but things changed in the months before the Gilbert family tragedy.

It was Dean who flipped my world upside down. He friend-zoned me so gently it hurt, and when I tried to talk to my friends about how he treated me, they brushed it off like it was nothing. So, I retreated. I stopped going out, and strangely, nobody seemed to notice I was gone.

Months passed, life settled into a new routine. I found refuge in my room, navigating the strained relationship between my mother and Caroline. A year went by, and everything had shifted. I had accepted witches, vampires, and all the woo-hoo that came with them, even coming to terms with Caroline's vampire status. But their attempts to protect me only left me feeling more isolated than safe.

Then came Elijah. Grieving over Dean, I met him without knowing he was an original vampire. Unaware of the danger, I was oblivious to the risks. Meeting him, though, turned out to be worth every twist and turn.
