"Elskan, come with me," Elijah spoke, offering his hand. She stood and took it, feeling the strength and warmth in his grip. "Mother, a word of advice: leave our mate alone. You've done nothing but show her disrespect," he continued, his voice firm and unwavering, shocking both women in the room. Before Esther could open her mouth to respond, Elijah scooped Sabrina up and sped to his room at vampire speed.
Once inside, Elijah gently set Sabrina down and looked into her eyes. "I truly hope you don't believe my mother and that we don't scare you. We would never cause you harm," he said, his voice softening as he walked to the bed and held up the blanket for her to slide into.
"Thank you," Sabrina said, her voice a whisper as she realized he was clad in sweatpants and a grey shirt. She slid into bed, feeling the comfort of the warm blankets and his presence beside her. Elijah joined her, lying on his back as she laid her head on his chest. They spoke about the old world, her life, her sister, and her mom. Sabrina shared everything interesting about herself, from being a writer for the newspaper to never feeling as pretty as her sister, which caused him a great deal of shock.
"My love, to me and your other mates, you are everything," he smiled, kissing her softly.
Just then, Finn called out, "Sabrina." She looked at Elijah, concern etched on her face.
"In here, what's wrong?" she asked, looking at Finn's distraught face as he opened the door. She shifted on her side to face him and opened the covers invitingly. "Lay with us and tell me what's wrong," she offered, her tone full of love.
Moving briskly, Finn joined them, his hands resting on her hips as she smiled reassuringly. The hallway light illuminated her face as Elijah, from behind, gently moved a strand of hair from her face. Elijah loved how she cared for the family she had just begun to know. Finn looked timidly at Elijah, who rested protectively behind his mate.
"I just don't want you to depart, and I don't wish to go back," Finn admitted, his voice trembling with fear. It clicked for Sabrina that he was scared of returning to the coffin. She held his head against her neck, humming a quiet lullaby and stroking the back of his neck.
Elijah stayed silent, wrapping his arm around her waist as they all settled down. The room fell into a peaceful silence, their breaths synchronizing as they fell asleep quietly, a sense of unity and love enveloping them.
The night wore on, and Sabrina woke intermittently, feeling the weight of her responsibilities and the love she had for her new family. Each time she awoke, she found comfort in the steady presence of Elijah beside her and Finn's warmth at her front. The darkness outside the window gradually gave way to the soft light of dawn, casting a gentle glow over the room.
As the first rays of sunlight filtered through the curtains, Sabrina shifted slightly, careful not to disturb the peaceful slumber of the two men. She marveled at how her life had changed so quickly, how she had gone from feeling alone and inadequate to being cherished and loved by these extraordinary beings.
Elijah stirred beside her, his eyes fluttering open. He smiled sleepily at her, his hand reaching up to caress her cheek. "Good morning, elskan ," he whispered, his voice husky with sleep.
"Good morning," she replied, leaning into his touch. She felt a sense of contentment she had never known before, a feeling of belonging that warmed her heart.
Finn woke shortly after, his eyes opening to find Sabrina looking at him with a soft smile. "Did you sleep well?" she asked, her fingers brushing through his hair.
"I did, thanks to you," Finn said, his voice filled with gratitude. He looked at Elijah, then back at Sabrina. "I'm so thankful to have you I don't know what I would do without you."
"We're mates now," Sabrina said firmly, her eyes shining with determination. "We'll face everything together."
The three of them lay there for a while longer, basking in the quiet moments of togetherness before the day began. They knew challenges lay ahead, but for now, they had each other, and that was enough.
Elijah eventually rose, pulling Sabrina up with him. "Let's get some breakfast," he suggested, his hand never leaving hers. Finn followed, and together they made their way to the kitchen. The smell of fresh coffee and warm toast filled the air, a comforting reminder of normalcy amidst their extraordinary lives. Rebekah butterd and held a piece to Sabrina who took it . The rest her mates coming down with in seconds .
They sat around the table, sharing stories and laughter, the bond between them growing stronger with each passing moment. Sabrina felt a sense of peace she had never known before, a certainty that she was exactly where she was meant to be.
As the day unfolded, they faced their challenges head-on, but they did so with the knowledge that they were not alone. They were a family, bound by love and loyalty, ready to face whatever the future held together.
