Chapter 35: welcome to the world

Let me catch you up: thanksgiving was great! And for Christmas we Skyped Greyson, Trevor, and Alan. Chandler got me a Lois Vuitton diaper bag. I thought this was funny. I got him a watch and my grandparents gave me books and toys for maverick and Bently. It's a new new year! Our family is slowly coming together.

Chandler is free of chicken pox. It only took 10 tubs of oatmeal and 5 tubes of ani itch cream and 14 sleepless nights. Today I was having my baby shower!! I'm so excited. In a way I get two baby showers right?! Haha. So I woke up and did what I did every morning: 30 minutes exercise, usually yoga or walk dog. Then I take my vitamins and drink my juice. After that then I shower. Today I was 35 weeks, so we are almost there!!! I got ready and Chandler went to work, he will be home later for the shower. After I got ready I went to the store to get the cake. I walked into Costco and in the back picked up the cake. I remember on the day Chandler was leaving we got his cake here. No I did not start crying in the middle of Costco. Ok maybe I did, but I hid it well. On my way to check out I got distracted by beef jerky. So i bought 2 bags. Then I got in line.
"Your total is $33.48. Debit or credit?" Iooked up and saw lily!
"Oh my gosh!!!" I said hugging her across the counter.
"I'm sorry, do I know you?"
"Lily! It's me bailey!"
"Are you sure because last time I checked she wasn't pregnant!" She said.
"Jim, cover for me!" She walks over to the food court and we sit down and tak.
"So how long do you have left?" She asked.
"2 weeks." I say.
"Wow. You have a big belly." She says.
"Twins." I say
"That's amazing, congratulations!"
"Thank you!" I say.
"So do you have your dream job?"
"Yes! Working at LDS family services is amazing! I love it there. Are you going to stay at Costco?"
"I've been promoted 3 three times since you've been gone. So yeah, I really like it here."
"What are your tele-tubbies name?"
"Tele-tubbies?"
"Yeah tummy, tubbie." She says
"Oh that's cute. We have maverick William and Bently Eden."
"That's super cute! I'd love to stay and talk but I have to get back to work. So good seeing you again!"
"Yes!" She hugged me.
"My baby shower is today if you want to come."
"Crud nuggets! I have my brothers wedding later." She says
"Txt or call if you need anything." Lily says walking away
"You too!" I walked out to my car and started the engine. And nothing. I tried again and nothing. I walked over to the car repair and talked to a guy over there. I walked him back to my car and he popped the hood. We messed with it a bit.
"New battery." He says closing the hood. I followed him the the store and bought a new battery. I handed him my card to pay and the total was $89.99.
"Sir, the battery cost $126.99." I said.
"Discount, ma'am." He says.
"Are you sure?" I asked
"I'm happy to pay full price."
"No can do. Have a nice day."
"Thank you." I said. I got in my car and drove home. I closed the garage and let Emmi out. I looked through the mail and payed bills. A little later I headed honking outside. I opened the front door and say a silver Ford Flex in my drive way.
"No." I said to myself. Chandler got out.
"Your new minivan." He said.
"Chandler I swear if you took this out of your children's college funds-"
"B, stop." He said resting his hands on my shoulders.
"It's ok. I didn't tell you but I won a car at the mall. You know those contests?" He asks.
"How much was instrist?" I asked
"Like $4000. B it's ok. And I know you love your ugly Honda Accord but you needed an upgrade. I sat on the steps of the house and put my hands in my lap.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"I feel like I have everything handed to me. The other ford and you."
"What do you mean me?"
"I had you in my arms since efy, 17 years old, It was like you were just there and I took it."
"B, no matter what you think, we were meant to be together, because that is how Heavenly Father intended us to be. He had a plan for us and we may not know everything to that plan but it's there for us, and we, together, you and I are living it. But we bought this house together, we are going to support 2 children together. We even have a dog together. B, you weren't handed anything. The ford was something I worked for at the contest and the other: you made your granddaddy happy, it you did t make him happy we probably would have given you $100 just like most people did for wedding gifts, but the fact that you made an impact on him is the big thing. "Chandler-"
"Do you know that?"
"Of course I do." I layed my head in his arms.
"Why don't you show up to your baby shower in your sexy new ford?" Chandler said
"I love you." I said kissing him. We got in and I drive to Tonya's for the shower. Durning the shower it was like there was the girl side and the guy side. The girls talked about babies and the guys played pool.
"Thank you!" I hugged Ashley for the little shoes.
"Open mine." Sandy said pointing to a chevron bag.
"It's heavy." I said I opened it and say a hand made quilt that had owls and butterflies in it and the other had starfish and whales.
"Oh my gosh! Sandy did you make these!?" I asked
"Yes, I get board sometimes in Dubai." She said
"The seconds I found out you were pregnant I went out and bought some fabric." She said
"Thanks you!" I hugged her and the minute I stood up my water broke.
"CHANDLER!" Sandy called. Chandler came rushing in he practically threw his pool stick at the wall.
"Call an ambulance!" He said.
"You ok?" He asked rubbing my head.
"Yeah. It hurts." I said giggling. A couple minutes later the ambulance arrived and drove Chandler and I to the hospital.
"Will you call Greyson's mission president? And Trevor's?"
"Yeah yeah, of course." I pulled out my phone and clalled Grace.
"Hey." Kian answered. I grunted in pain
"Hey..... I called..... To tell you.... My water broke.!" I yell
"Holy s-" Chandler takes the phone.
"Tell him not to cuss." I said. Chandler laughed
"Hey... Yeah... Right now....really?.... Great.. Ok thank....bye..."
"What he say?"
"He's flying down with grace as we speak." I clenched his hand.
"Ow ow ow." He said.
"Sorry."
"It's ok." They took me inside and got me a room. Soon family and friends flooded the waiting room. Some 15 hours later Maverick Wailliam Riggs was born at 3:13am on February 1st. 4 minutes later Bently Eden Riggs was born at 3:17am. Happy and healthy with no complications. Slowly we had family and friends come in and out visiting Maverick and Bently. Chandler and I fell asleep with maverick on my chest and Bently on his.
