Chapter 3

2 hours later.

Alex was muttering in his sleep "Come on, now, baby. My little filet. My little filet mignon with a little fat around the edges. I like that. I like a little fat on my steak. My sweet, juicy steak. You are a rare delicacy."

Melman poked his head in Alex's pen trying to wake him up "Alex. Alex. Alex. Alex. Alex!"

Alex asked "What? What?"

Melman asked "You suck your thumb?"

Alex sighed then asked "What is it, Melman?"

Melman said "Okay, okay." He sighed " You know how I have that bladder infection and I have to get up every two hours? Well, I got up to pee, um, and looked over at Marty's pen, which, you know, I usually don't do. I don't know why, but I did. And this time I looked over and..."

Alex asked "What, Melman? What's going on?"

Melman replied "It's Marty. He's gone."

Alex asked "Gone?!" He hits his head on the roof "Agh! What do you mean, "gone"?"

Melman looked at the hole that penguins were in "How long has he been working on this?? Marty! Marty!!"

Gloria said "He wouldn't fit down there."

Garifeld said "Yeah that's the penguin hole."

Alex tries to look for Marty in the haystacks, noticing that he isn't there "Marty? Marty?! Marty! Marty!!"

Gloria said "This doesn't make any sense. Where would he go?"

Alex said in terror "Connecticut!!"

Gloria said "He wouldn't." Vic said "He would."

Melman said "Oh, no! What are we going to do? We gotta-- we gotta-- I mean, we gotta-- we gotta-- we gotta call somebody!"

Alex gasped as he calls 911 on the phone "Hello?! Get me Missing Animals!! And hurry!" The others looked shocked as Alex continued talking "We've got a lost zebra probably on the way to Connecticut by now, and we're gonna need...!!"

The Police only hears Alex roaring. He took off the headphones confused asked "Hello? Hello?"

Alex said "Wait a second. We can't call the people."

The police man asked "What the...?!"

Alex takes the phone and throws it out "They'll be really mad! It'll get Marty transferred for good. You don't bite the hand that feeds you."

Gloria said "Mm-hmm. I know that's right."

Alex said "We got to go after him."

Melman asked "Go after him?"

Garfield said "Yes."

Alex said "He's not thinking straight. We gotta stop him from making the biggest mistake of his life. He's probably out there lost and cold, confused." He sadly sighed looking out from the pen "Poor little guy.

The Bee Gees's Stayin' Alive is playing while Marty walks through New York. He saw a woman wearing stripes he looked confused then continued walking.

Alex tries to land while he grabs Melman, but he falls down

Gloria bursts through the zoo wall "Melman, come on!"

Melman said "You know, maybe one of us should wait here in case he comes back."

Gloria said "Oh, no. Not now. This is an intervention, Melman. We all got to go."

Odie nodded.

Alex said "What's the fastest way to Grand Central?!"
