"morning sleepyhead"
Iraa stirred, her eyes fluttering open to see Vedang’s face inches from hers, his eyes filled with a mixture of concern and amusement. She quickly sat up, realizing she had dozed off during the early morning drive.
"What are you doing here?" Iraa asked in her cold tone. As far as she knew only four of them were going.
"Dev woke me up..and called me and Adi" Vedang said, bit hurt with her tone. She nodded and came out of the car.
"There you are!" Aditi said cheerfully hugging Iraa. "Wow someone's in a good mood" Iraa said chuckling at her clingyness.
"Give her 10 more mins..fir dekhna wapas normal ho jayegi CHID CHIDI!" Dev said and ran away, Aditi running behind him.
Everyone got back in the car as they had just got down to fill the gas.
Few minutes later
"You alright?" Vedang asked who was seating in the passenger sit asked Iraa, his tone laced with genuine concern. "You've been quiet all morning."
"I'm fine," she replied curtly, her eyes fixed on the passing scenery outside the window. "Just tired."
Vedang frowned, clearly not convinced. "You sure? You don't seem like yourself."
"I'm sure!," Iraa snapped, a bit more harshly than she intended.
Everyone looked at her. She softened her tone, not wanting to arouse more suspicion. "Just need some time to wake up properly."
Sidharth coughed awkwardly, noticing the tension, decided to lighten the mood. "So, what's the plan for today? We can't just drive around all day."
Dev who was driving now grinned, leaning backward from his seat. "How about we find a good café for breakfast? I'm starving."
Kriti laughed. "Dev, tum hamesha bhooke kyun rehte ho?"
"Because I have a big heart to feed," Dev replied, winking at Kriti.
Iraa felt Vedang’s eyes on her, but she refused to look his way. Her mind was a jumble of emotions—hurt, confusion, and a trace of anger.
"Babes did you see this photo" Aditi turned her phone to Iraa..trying to gossip with her. They both eventually got busy with it.
Meanwhile Sidharth, sitting next to Kriti at the very end, glanced at Iraa and then at Vedang. He knew what was bothering her, and it was high time Vedang found out too.
He leaned towards Kriti and whispered, "I need to tell you something about Vedang and Iraa."
Kriti's eyebrows shot up. "What is it?"
"Iraa overheard Vedang last night. He said he didn't have any feelings for her," Sidharth explained quietly.
Kriti's eyes widened. "What?! What the fuck is wrong with him?!" Kriti snapped a little loud, which made Iraa look good.
"Ah nothing hum woh series ki baat kar rahe hai!" Kriti said sheepishly smiling. Iraa looked ahead with suspicion but didn't say anything.
"No wonder she's been so upset. Vedang ko pata hai??" Kriti asked. "Nhi na! I have been trying to tell him since yesterday but he keeps getting annoyed" Sid said keeping his hand on his forehead.
"Did Vedang mean what he said?" she asked, Sidharth thought about it for some time, "no, I don't think..even though he said so we can't deny the fact that they have something in between them" "I agree" Kriti replied.
"We need to fix this." Kriti said determined. "What? how?"
"I don't know..i guess we should try creating some 'accidental' romantic moments between them" Kriti told him what to do.
Sidharth nodded. "But we need to be careful. warna humari band baj jayegi."
They continued driving until they found a cozy café nestled in the hills. The group settled at a table with a stunning view of the snow-capped mountains.
"Yeh place kitna sundar hai," Aditi said, looking around appreciatively.
"It is," Iraa agreed, trying to distract herself from her swirling emotions.
As they waited for their order, Dev leaned towards Kriti. "So, Kriti, when are you going to admit that you find me irresistible?" Kriti rolled her eyes. "In your dreams, Dev."
Dev laughed. "Hey, a guy can hope, right?"
Kriti looked at Sidharth and gave him a go. "Oww" he screamed. "Oh my god I'm so sorry Iraa! My leg slipped and your jacket..." Sidharth exasperated, holding her jacket which was now covered in coffee.
Iraa looked at him, she was upset but she didn't say anything cause it was an accident. "Koi na you are fine na?" Sidharth nodded.
Later everyone walked out and they finally reached a scenic viewpoint, where the sunrise painted the sky in hues of pink and orange.
Everyone spread across admiring the view. Sidharth tapped Vedang's shoulder pointing towards Iraa and left.
Iraa wrapped her arms around herself, shivering slightly in the crisp morning air, she missed her jacket. Vedang noticed and immediately shrugged off his jacket, draping it over her shoulders.
"Here, you'll catch a cold," he said, his voice gentle. Meanwhile Sidharth and Kriti watched them secretly from far, hiding behind a tree.
"You really think this would work?" Sidharth asked rolling his eyes. "Karna toh chahiye! in books toh it works!" Kriti responded bit offended.
"I don't need it," Iraa replied, shrugging off the jacket and handing it back to him. "I'm fine."
Vedang's frown deepened. "What's going on, Iraa? You've been avoiding since kal. Did I do something to upset you? kuch hai toh please bol do" he urged.
Iraa took a deep breath, her emotions threatening to spill over. "I just... I need some space, okay?"
"Space?" Vedang echoed, looking genuinely puzzled. "From what?"
"From YOU!" Iraa's voice cracked, and she quickly turned away, not wanting him to see the tears welling up in her eyes.
Vedang stepped closer, lowering his voice. "Iraa, please talk to me. I can't help if I don't know what's wrong."
She shook her head, taking a few steps away from him. "There's nothing to talk about, Vedang. Just leave me alone."
Vedang ran a hand through his hair, clearly frustrated. He held her arm pulling her back, making her slam on his chest lightly "I don't understand. We were fine yesterday. What changed?"
Iraa spun around, her eyes blazing. "You don't understand, Vedang? Maybe it's because yo-"
Sidharth and Kriti who saw what was happening came running to stop them from arguing again. "Guys guys!! don't fight here!" Kriti said pulling Iraa back.
"I want to be alone" Iraa said looking down and went away.
"What the hell guys?! She was finally say-" Sidharth took a deep breath and decided it was now or never.
"Vedang, we need to talk!"
